I’ve been introduced to Huel after reading an article at The Register here. After reading that article and reviewing information on the Huel website/forum, I wondered if Huel could help me. My main aims are:
Increase my energy levels. This is very important!
Reduce my snacking and general cravings for “bad” food.
About me:
I’m a middle aged bloke
I’m not into running marathons or working out but I do exercise my regularly walking my dog and the occasional stint off-road on my dirt bike.
I’m not overweight or otherwise unhealthy, but neither am I the fittest person around and I am terrible for eating snack foods (crisps are a particular vice!).
I would anticipate starting using Huel for breakfast - which I rarely have due to time constraints - and see how it goes from there.
I would be very interested in opinions and experiences, particularly in relation to energy levels as I do need something to perk me up a bit! That said, I read on here a thread about Huel actually lowering energy levels which if that’s the case with me, I’ll probably end up in a coma
Sounds quite similar to where I was when I found huel, so I definitely think it’ll help.
Skipping breakfast is something I did a lot, and which led to me snacking at work all morning and eating a crap lunch because I was starving by then. If you start your day with huel you’re not going to be as hungry so you shouldn’t snack as much, and you won’t be desperate for lunch so you should make better choices (that’s how it worked for me). You’ll also find you’ve got more energy because you’ve eaten something where previously you wouldn’t have.
The new bars are quite good for snack dodging as well, not quite as exciting as a chocolate bar but nutritious and enjoyable.
Best tip, if you do get some huel mix it the night before and leave it in the fridge overnight. Best way to have it.
Many thanks for taking the time to reply. In the absence of any other responses, I think I’ll order the sample package and go from there - the bars also sound tempting too. Cheers.
I am a middle aged bloke, and crisps were my vice too…Huel has definitely helped in that respect. I am healthy and active and vegan, and I find Huel twice a day and an evening meal is great foe my lifestyle.
Welcome to Huel forum! Great to have you on board. Your goals are something that so many Huelers have reached so you are in good hands. I would be very surprised if Huel doesn’t raise your energy levels, as long as you don’t unsuspectingly put yourself into an accidental calorie deficit - I wager that this is what the person you are referring to did. So assess your calorie requirements for the meals you want to replace so that you eat the right amount.
Otherwise it sounds great and I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about Huel. Don’t forget to check out our bars, they are perfect for reducing unhealthy snacking.
Any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch here or at team@huel.com
Crisps are also my biggest downfall. I have been craving them, but after week 2, much less so. Been shopping twice and was able to walk down the snack aisle on both occasions without reaching for them (even with Frazzles being on offer!) If I don’t have them in the house, I think I am safe.
Have fruit on standby, apples for me as I still need that “munch” for the moment.
