Huel v3.1 gluten free?

it is described as gluten-free on the website.

is it really gluten-free and if so, what is the point of the separate gluten free version?

An interesting thing I just noticed, which doesnā€™t answer your question (sorry).

If I go to this link:

it clearly states that Huel is gluten free. But only for a moment, then Iā€™m redirected to an updated store page with a different URL. No mention of gluten free there.

If I visit that link on my phone, where Iā€™m using an adblocker, I donā€™t get redirected and stay on the old page.

Both the old and new page say this in the FAQ:

What are the ingredients of Huel Powder?

Huel Powder is made using ultra fine oats (gluten-free oats are used for our Gluten-free range), tapioca starch, pea, brown rice & faba bean protein, MCTs from coconut, sunflower oil powder, and flaxseed. We also add a unique blend of essential vitamins and minerals.

So I reckon they just forgot to remove ā€œgluten-freeā€ from the old description, because weā€™re not supposed to see that page anymore.

No idea why Iā€™m messing around with this when itā€™s past my bedtime. I just need someone to hold me on these lonely nights.

The gluten free product is certified as such as the oats used in them are being grown and processed in a gluten-free environment. The oats in the normal version are also naturally gluten free but may have been cross contaminated with traces of gluten from neighbouring crops at some stage.

On foods and drinks, if they have certain elements in them that are below specified amounts they can be labelled as ā€˜freeā€™ such as fat free, sugar free, alcohol free etc. even though they may still contain small amounts of them.

If they contain hazardous allergens - even in trace amounts ā€“ they cannot use the ā€˜freeā€™ statement unless they have been produced in controlled environments. Thatā€™s why you will often see the ā€˜may containā€™ warnings that alert you to the possibility of cross contamination. This covers:

  • Gluten
  • Crustaceans
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Peanuts
  • Soybeans
  • Dairy Milk
  • Tree nuts

I donā€™t get redirected while on desktop with or without adblock. If its not gluten free i hope they fix it before somebody with Coeliac disease gets sick

I know youā€™ve had some answers from others so will try not to step over what has already been said!

We do have a separate gluten free version - Huel Shop.

This is super important because it means more people can use Huel. I think that could potentially be the housing point of our website for all the powders which you can find here - Huel Powder.

If youā€™ve got the link to the URL you are referring to thatā€™ll be grand so I can look into this and pass on the feedback

cough bars cough

This is the link Iā€™m using. I added a screenshot of it in my last post. it states that 3.1 is gluten free. is it?

I think i figured it out. After downloading Chrome and trying the website on there, I think it is an issue with the website on Firefox (I tested it with a new browser profile to make sure it wasnt settings/addons causing it)

When using Chrome to go to https://uk.huel.com/products/huel it starts off on the page that claims 3.1 is gluten free. it then redirects me to https://uk.huel.com/products/build-your-own-bundle?mrasn=1147862.1422524.T5utvq4e#/?product=huel which has a different description

when using Firefox to go to https://uk.huel.com/products/huel it doesnt redirect me at all and keeps me on the page that says it is gluten-free.

I think itā€™s maybe some cacheing issue you have on the browser as that page is pretty old. I tried it on chrome and safari and each one directs you to the correct page as the address you put in doesnā€™t exist in its own right when you click on the products.

Itā€™s not that, because the page does exist in its own right. From this page

which you reach from the product menu in the store, clicking any product takes you to the old version, which fully loads then triggers a redirect to the ā€œbuild your own bundleā€ version. If the redirect doesnā€™t trigger for whatever reason, youā€™re viewing an outdated product page.

You can force the redirect to fail by pressing esc the moment the older page loads. Your timing has to be good. Itā€™s a fun game for people with insomnia.

edit: the exception is Professional, which doesnā€™t redirect.

Sounds like that rogue page address dates back to when core powder was the only product ā€“ a bit of housekeeping by the store admins required

Itā€™s worth mentioning that Iā€™ve raised this, and it will be fixed asap!

Correctionā€¦

Should be all fixed now
