Joe Wicks: licensed to kill

Anyone watched it, notice they mentioned Huel bars.

I had no idea sucralose was a bad idea to consume too much of if any at all.

Huel Black which I have seems to be okay with Stevia, does make me question why they bother with sweetener.

They bother with sweetener because without it the flavour profiles taste bad and no-one would eat it. When I say no-one I mean many people - there are some who can quite happily eat UU Huel day after day but I never could. There are various sweeteners available but some are harder to use than others. Stevia can give a bitter aftertaste which I can sometimes notice but it is natural..

They could use sugar but that’s not ideal either.

Sucralose is definitely a divisive one and the long term effects aren’t widely known.

I’m sure it’s been asked before and I’m sure there is a reason but why Stevia in Black but Sucralose in pretty much everything else?

My general philosophy is if ingredients sound like food I’m happy if it sounds like chemicals I need to see what it is, like you say Stevia is natural so I’m happy with that.

Stevia is an acquired taste and a lot of people don’t like the bitter almost metallic aftertaste it can leave. Not sure if thats the rationale but high plant based proteins can also have a similar effect so it’s tough to mask all that especially in BE. I like the taste of BE powders but the RTD tastes too synthetic for me because of this.

I agree with the BE. I thought the cookies and cream was a vast improvement on the previous ones and was keen to try the peanut one, but it is out of stock.

Sucralose is the most palatable sweetener for me but it isn’t without concerns.

I’d like to try monk fruit but it’s not yet allowed in the UK as a food additive(unless things have changed since I last looked) although you can buy it on its own.
