The book urges you to pause and think - just a little - about what you eat.
What a journey…
Back in early 2019, I started to think about my food choices and change how I eat. I started writing about these changes as a pandemic passion project but I just had so much to share.
Well Fed introduces a new dietary strategy, “Contemplative Nutrition”, where I offer a solution to the problems of the modern food system, laid out in the five key pillars:
Food and our physical health and performance
Nutrition for our mental wellbeing
Sustainable eating
Ethical consideration
Eating in the company of others
Our food choices directly influence our health and well-being, but they also impact others and the planet we live on.
Diets aren’t black & white; the right one can be sensible, realistic, straightforward and, dare I say it, enjoyable.
Yes it looks interesting. I’ve read many takes on the food chain over the years starting with the most memorable being Gluttons for punishment by James Erlichman, fast food nation by Eric schlosser, Swallow This by Joanna Blythman, and most recently Regenesis by George Monbiot and Ravenous by Henry Dimbleby.
Whoa, totally missed this. Definitely grabbing it – sounds brilliant! The angles and topics chosen have me very interested, and hopefully they’re in a digestible way as it seems like it could be a great book to gift a few people I know.
If it’s anything like your blog, then I’m sure I’ll love it. Are you narrating the audiobook version? (Always much prefer when the author narrates!)
