Using Huel for 5 2 diet

Hi Andrew, yes I started using Huel with the 5:2 and am finding it works well for me. I am a pretty small woman, so I mix up 500 cal of Huel and just have that on fast days, along with the odd cup of tea with some semi skimmed milk in. Its easier as you get used to it and I do find that I am not eating as much on the other days. I like the 5:2 because I like to eat what I feel like eating on the other days. I have been losing between 1 and 2 lbs a week. I was 11st at Christmas and now I am 10st 6. I know its not for everyone, but for me it seems the best option and I love that I dont have to think about food other than to prepare the Huel on the fast days. I hope it continues to go well for you

I considered using huel in conjunction with 5:2, but the idea of having a liquid meal after not eating all day was something I didn’t really want to consider facing!

I actually quit the 5:2 for huel replacement meals just last week, as the 5:2 seemed to make me nauseous, although I did lose 6 pounds in those weeks with doing nothing but fasting 2 days (I stuck it out for 9 weeks, to make sure my mind wasn’t playing tricks on me!). Probably a product of IBS and a semi-chronic acid reflux problem - I’m only 23, my dad has the same problems as me haha.

The 5:2 wasn’t for me, even thought it was relatively easy and I mostly ‘enjoyed it’ for lack of a better work, but I would recommend anyone who is even a teeny tiny bit interested in it, to try it. Friends and family have had great success with it, and as some have said on here, intermittent fasting has been shown to have great benefits! Best thing to do is listen to your body though. If it says (after committing for a reasonable amount of time) “this doesn’t work you’re [insert ailment here] all the time” then stop and try something else!
