I certainly won’t argue with you, you must do what is best for you so I wish you the very best for the future.
The only thing I’ll clarify is that not 23 out of 27 vitamins are from the vitamin and mineral blend by any means. The vitamin and mineral blend is used to top up the levels of the vitamins and minerals that are naturally occurring in the six main ingredients. So the vast majority of the vitamins and minerals come from the 6 ingredients, we just added the blend to ensure the levels all reached 100%.
A lot of the minerals and vitamins are way past the 100% rda and some up to 464% The top up for some of the vitamins must mean some of the vitamins contain more of it’s synthetic counterpart that it’s naturally sourced one.
Fair enough. Like I said it’s a decent product that keeps you full for hours just not for me that’s all. Thanks again. J;-)
The ones that are passed 100% aren’t included with the vitamin and mineral blend. The blend doesn’t contain every single vitamin or mineral, just some to get the ones that are below 100% up and over. The majority of the numbers that are over 100% are because the naturally occurring ingredients have over 100% of those vitamins and minerals in them.
So i guess it is nearly a complete food without the added vitamins anyhow. Maybe you guys could launch a version without the synthesised vitamins and add your own unique natural blend to the mix? or suggest to people what to add to it if that want an added boost.
Pretty essential I reckon. Sugars are classed as carbs and you definitely need glucose. Your body uses this as energy so very important actually!fructose is essential too. That’s why most diet ratios suggest to have way more carbs than fat or protein.
hang on. This is even more confusing. I’ve read that and it says the main carb source is from oats. Companies usually list ingredients in order of the quantity the product contains. Oats are the first on the list of Huels ingredients meaning it contains more oats than anything else right?. If they aren’t essential or needed why is your product loaded with carbs? For me out of protein, fat or carbs especially in the form of Fructose, I’d choose the latter any time.
yes I read it. It says they are not that essential but that doesn’t explain oats being on top of the list of ingredients if that’s the case. Plus The 40:30:30 has been around a while and it was written by one of your team so is slightly invalid as proof to in this convocation anyhow.
Gone a bit off topic anyhow really. The main thing was synthesised vitamins and minerals. Didn’t realise a basic inquiry would unleash so many points, but valid ones at that.
reading back I sound like a troll and that really isn’t the case. I’m asking simple questions for the benefit of everyone’s health and don’t really agree with Huel conclusion. My opinion I know but I don’t want to just accept things when they are thrown at me as a consumer but rather find out if products are all they say they are and the more I read and learn the more I find out that they’re not. That’s all.
Carbohydrates, however, are not essential per se, but they do have significant benefits to sustaining even energy levels and are significantly cheaper helping to make Huel more affordable.
Part of Huel’s attraction is the cost - oats as a carb source is about as cheap as you’re going to get, and if that’s how you’re going to provide the bulk of the energy, then that’s obviously going to reflect the ratios.
By using oats, a complex carb, you have a low GI source which obviates the need to add simple carbs as the body can produce them itself (which I think is what you may have misunderstood from Julian’s comments).
Personally, I’ve no issue with artificial vitamins. I don’t think Huel have been anything but up front with how they source their ingredients and the compromises that they’ve made in order to get to their chosen price point.
I have just received my order from Bertrand (all natural, organic, vegan etc), I use both huel and them. bertrand is considerably cheaper than ambronite. Tried ambronite, but I just could not justify the price.
Just buy oats then I suppose, use that at the 60% mark as a base and add to it. each to their own I guess. I’m all for nature though. The more I can cut out things that are inorganic the better. Artificial vitamins are not the way forward for me anyhow. Just add artificial in front of any word you can think of that is important to your basic everyday survival needs. Does it sound better with or without the word artificial there? I wouldn’t accept it for any of these words including vitamins.
My problem with Bertrand is that I can’t seem to work out who makes it. tbh, if I’m going to get all my sustenance from one source I’d like to know a little about that source. Not putting your full name on your product cannot be good.
