Huel is Amazing for me

Hi Lynn. That’s all great to know - I saw Roy Taylor (the guy at Newcastle that showed Mosely the idea for the 800KCal a day diet) about three weeks ago and started straight away before discovering Mosely’s versino of it. Though I have lapsed a couple of times. But glad to hear it has worked for someone diagnosed 7+ years ago too! It’s great inspiration to stick it out!

Did you notice that Mosely talks (at least on the Blood Sugar Diet website) about moving to “5:2” once you finish the 8 weeks in order to give the best chance of maintaining the lower weight?

Hey Jock,

Yes, he said about the 5:2, I just upped my calories from 800 to 1000 one week, then the next week 1200, and then 1,400 and so on to 1500, and stopped there, but like us all, it slipped and wrong stuff went in, so I started the Huel and now the weight is moving again, two shakes a day and a proper dinner with my partner, based on primal food…no carbs. Think I have found what works for me now…Lin

Flynn1958, all low carb diets are also low calorie diets and viceversa all low calories diets are also low carb diets. They do produce some favorable results over short term due to rapid weight loss. But you’ll always be hungry, without energy and with latent health problems. They’re all unsustainable over long term.

If you want an analogy, you can consider this. Suppose someone says to you that the secret to weight loss and health is to drink less water. Suppose he also says that this is as indisputable as the physical law of conservation of mass and that there is also “recent research” proving that this is an effective weight loss strategy. What would you think about this guy? Do you agree this is a completely insane argument?

The Low Blood Sugar diet was not about losing weight, it was about
reversing diabetes, and I did that, that is the main thing for my health.

If the diabetes was caused at least in part by too much body fat, then you can reverse it at least in part by getting rid of some of the body fat. Any diet that will reduce body fat will also reverse diabetes in this way.

In addition to this, you can also starve your body of glucose. If you do this you’ll no longer have the problems normally associated with diabetes, but you’ll have the problems normally associated with bad diets.

If instead you want to reverse diabetes for real, then you need to eliminate its cause. The 2nd most common cause (after obesity and excess body fat) is an excessive intake of fat and protein. In other words, low carb diets are the most important cause of diabete (and also obesity).
