Just ordered my first batch, need to lose weight, advice please :) *week 2 - updated :)*

Starting Weight: 11st 1lbs
Week 0: 10st 10lbs (-5lbs, pre Huel)
Week 2: 10st 3lbs (-7lbs, 100% Huel)

Hey fellow Huelers

I’m 21, 5ft 0ins, 10st 10lbs (as of yesterday - I’ve lost 5lbs in the past week or so as I started at 11st 1lb) with various chronic illnesses (Ehlers-Danlos, PoTS, MCAD, histamine intolerance, severe chronic abdominal pain, PCOS…)

I started Huel as my friend who is also unwell tried it as she was struggling to eat properly and it was really improving things for her and also because my condition is made worse when I eat, it flares up my pain and also exacerbates bowel issues. When I have been on a liquid diet before I have seen major improvements, I am housebound and I am hoping that this will enable me to get out of the house more often.

I tried the samples (V1.2) of both vanilla and unsweetened/unflavoured and enjoyed them both (I mixed skim milk with my try of vanilla and water with 2 tsp of canderel with my try of unflavoured/unsweetened).

I have been advised by my endocrinologist to lose weight as my height means that at my current weight my BMI is in the obese range, and flaring up my PCOS (I have an insulin resistance phenotype also).

I used the calorie calculator and it says to lose 2lbs a week I must consume 640 calories a day. So I was wondering if you guys had any advice or any flavour combinations to try out? Please note I am anaphylactic to peanuts, allergic to eggs and all other nuts and I have histamine intolerance so I can’t have chocolate (well I can have a tiny amount), bananas, kiwis, citrus fruit, strawberries, raspberries, spinach, soya and some others I can’t remember off the top of my head but those are the main culprits

I have ordered 1 vanilla and 1 U/U as well as the chocolate flavour thing too as I figured a little of that would be nice if I don’t use it all the time

Oh and my target weight is somewhere between 6st 7lbs and 7st 0lbs
I know it may seem like an unrealistic goal but when I was younger and not sick I did drop from 10st 3lbs to 7st 2lbs so I know it is within my reach - I’d do the same method again but my body is in a ‘metabolic slump’ and I am literally sedentary, unlike the fit active person I was then.

Many thanks, I appreciate it!

I am not a nutritionist so won’t attempt to answer any of the complex issues, but consuming 640 calories a day is not a reasonable amount of food to eat. You probably won’t sustain it and before long you will give up and put weight back on.

I think you need to aim for longer term weight loss to be realistic.

Thank you for your reply

Yeah it’s a tough one in regards to eating enough that I don’t succumb to failure, I find because of my height and metabolism I literally do not lose weight until I have under 800 calories a day :frowning:

How do you like to drink your Huel?

@Rhiannonny welcome to Huel.

We recommend people aim for 1lb per week not 2lb. I know the calculator offers the option of 1lb and 2lb but one is much more realistic in the long term.

I highly recommend you read this guide to fat loss https://huel.com/pages/guide-to-fat-loss

Good luck.

Thanks @Julian

That makes sense, thank you for the information, I shall give it a read now

I have 100g vanilla Huel in 250ml unsweetened almond milk and 300ml water. Mixed in a high powered blender and left in fridge overnight.

I do try other flavourings but this is my usual.

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you.

I’m 25, 5’0 and 10st 4lbs.

I ordered Huel yesterday to see if it helps me to shift some weight and improve my health. I’m excited to hear how your journey goes and if we have similar results!

Best of luck

@StaceyC definitely will be interesting to see if there are any differences

If you don’t mind me asking, how much Huel are you having a day?

Good luck

I’m planning on 6 Scoops a day (3 meals with 2 scoops) which is 966 calories and possibly another scoop on days I’m peckish or working out. So hopefully weight loss of a little over a pound a week.

Ah good luck  I have between 3 and 5 scoops a day in 1 scoop shakes

I’ve lost 2lbs already and feeling less fatigued  I’m over the moon

The only issue I have is that I start to fall asleep when I need another Huel, is that weird? Lol

I only received mine late last week so I had a trial run in work on Friday and started properly yesterday. Last night after work and a small pasta dinner, I was really drowsy I went to bed super early and had a great sleep and all ready for day 2

Hope day 2 goes just as well @StaceyC

It’s almost into week two and I’ve been on 100% Huel for all of that time bar 1 day
I now weigh 10st 3lbs (64.9kg) - that’s a 7lb (half a stone woo!) loss from Huel in that short period of time

So happy I rewarded myself with a 1TB Xbox One with The Division :’)

Now to keep going

Definitely enjoying watching my body slim down before my eyes and not being so ill after food  thank you Huel :3

I don’t want to derail the thread at all but I definitely need to hear your thoughts about the division!

Congratulations as well!

Thanks everyone

@Gulliver_Huel - really enjoying the Division - even invested in the season pass after 12hrs 30ish mins playing
