Ready to Drink - Attached Lids

I’m a big fan of your Ready to Drink line. I often drink one on my commute to work.
Your updated lid is attached to the bottle. Nice, but…
Now, when I’m dressed in a nice shirt or sweater, the upside-down lid drips on my shift before i arrive for work. Not a good way to arrive at the office.

I’d snip it off.

How about UK lids for UK shippers and US lids for US shippers.

The US is a bit of a different one. Some brands have already started using tethered caps voluntarily, but a wider roll out probably depends fully on what California do. I think it’s pretty unlikely that there will be some sort of Federal directive on this similar to the European one, but if California brings in legislation on it (they tried once before but dropped it due to the timelines) then that would force all large brands to adopt it nationally. I would imagine they are holding fire to give them more time to assess the impact of the EU directive both on the increased amounts of plastics being used vs. potential increases in recycling and reductions in waste.

No, I just like to spoil myself.

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum.

I completely hear you and understand that you are not a fan of the lids. This has been covered quite a few times (Here is one of the occasions its been mentioned - Problem with lids on RTD)

To summarise and give you a reason why, The lids are now attached to adhere to new EU regulations. From July 2024 onwards, plastic caps on all beverage bottles of 3 litres or less must remain attached to the bottle after opening.

Being a global company with our Ready To Drink produced in the EU, we’ve had to make this change and have already started our new production with the new attached caps.

I’m sorry about your shirt, its the last thing we want for our customers to be experiencing so I will pass on your feedback. I’m not sure how easy it would be to change it but There could be a slicker way that just hasn’t been discovered yet :raised_hands:

Lick the damn lid!

If you really can’t bring yourself to lick a lid, twist it off. They break very easily.

To be honest…I lick the lid after every shake of the bottle.

There… it’s out in the open…its okay to do it

I got annoyed at the attached lids just like everyone else.

Then, just today, I went for a walk with an old-style bottle. Removed the lid, and couldn’t for the life of me remember what we used to do with the lids of bottles after we’d taking them off, totally threw me off as I’ve clearly lost whatever muscle-memory there was for whatever I used to do with them subconsciously!

Having the lid attached is so much more convenient than having to carry it around!

Jeff I love this comment.

Throw it on the ground like everyone else.

Its be pretty easy to have an attached lid version and a detached version. Many food manufacturers do similarly with different recepies for different countries.
As im drinking this in my car, i remove the lid and hold it with my off hand, drink, and return the lid to avoid spilling in my car.
I don’t like licking the lid with sharp points.

It would be but roolz is roolz. Not allowed bro.

Same. It drips onto my white NHS uniform meaning I spend the day with a splodge.

This is the only Splodge anyone needs in their life:

Sounds like detachable lids are a hazard for road users as well as for the environment.
.

I’ve never wanted to discard bottle tops as much as I do now they’re stuck to the bottles.

Only Yazoo bottles get it right.
