I think you’re doing a great job helping businesses.

There will always be a very vocal minority that like nothing else than to air their disapproval over and over again.

I somewhat agree with this, and it’s clear that Huel were so desperate to capitalise on the “substantial meal” circus they didn’t consider the big picture. But there’s a difference between knowing, in your heart, that all businesses are unethical, and knowing precisely what unethical thing a particular business is doing. It’s why I boycott certain companies even though the ones I use instead are probably hiding some shit too. Ignorance is bliss.

Huel would have lost me as a customer if they hadn’t backtracked.

There was no altruism involved here. They encouraged a pub to buy their products so it could pretend to be a restaurant, so the “old boys” could gather indoors during a pandemic that particularly affects “old boys”, and spreads best when people gather indoors, just so they could say “Look! We’re real food!” And when called out on it, their first instinct was to deny any culpability.

They’ve stopped bragging on social media so I think they’d rather the subject be forgotten now, and I won’t say any more about it. I do note they’ve only apologised here on the forum, where almost no one will see it.
