How did it go? Seems 99% of these kinds of thread fizzle out pretty fast.
Sorry for slow reply. Still doing it now!
I underwent bulk phase between October and New Year and gained a substantial amount of strength. My lifts all went up. That was basically done by eating 2500 calories of Huel (each Huel with 200ml whole milk) plus any extra food to take me over the 3,000 calorie mark.
Iām now back to 100% Huel (excluding the whole milk and also whey protein to balance macros). This consists of 2100 calories per day, which is made up of the following:
Breakfast: 3 scoops Huel, 200ml whole milk, 1 scoop whey
Lunch: 3 scoops Huel, water
Dinner: 3 scoops huel, 200ml whole milk, 2 scoops whey protein.
Iāve lost 5kg since January 1st now yet held onto my muscle mass. Pretty chuffed.
Iāve also got Huel coming via subscription now.
Any Tips for a fellow Obese man trying to get healthy and also develop a bod?
Some people say lose weight first then gain muscles, others say do weights/resistance training immediately and donāt eat below 1800 cals including exercise burn.
Is it true that weights are pointless if calorie deficit is too great?
You seem to have already been given reasonable advice! Resistance training is never pointless. Itās something that many people miss off of their schedule when theyāre focused on losing weight and Iām never sure why.
If you hit the weights while you have a fair amount of excess chub your body should get them noob gains pretty easily. When I was 102KG I found strength training a breeze, even on 1750 calories a day. Admittedly I didnāt put on much muscle mass, but I developed enough to look reasonable once a bit of fat had come off.
Iād recommend a nice āPPLā program if youāre just starting out. Thatāll hit most parts of your body and get you up and running. 1800 calories will be fine, as long as you measure honestly and correctly. Remember, the only person holding you back is you
Thanks for the helpful advice!
Need to find time to squeeze in a regime now
Yeah youāre going to need a solid 1 hour a day, although once you get into it youāll become addicted if youāre like most of us!
I recommend this program from Reddit, this is what I used to start out: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/37ylk5/a_linear_progression_based_ppl_program_for/
