Hi, I have high Cholesterol and would like to know if a Huel diet will help to reduce this.
short answer - yes - providing you also ensure the other food you eat is also nutritionally balanced and reducing your intake of other high cholesterol sources such as animal fats.
I agree with @Phil_C in that Huel can be part of a dietary intake where you are aiming to lower your cholesterol. However, it would ultimately depend on what else you are consuming throughout the day and how often you are having Huel too!
There are also a few different factors at play and when thinking about lowering your cholesterol. In terms of diet, the types of fat you consume are important. I’d say the main thing you’d actually want to consider is the amount of saturated fat in the food, meaning you want to ensure you aren’t having excessive amounts as well as decreasing trans-fats.

Great question! It can be super tricky when it comes to nutrition as it’s not that you need to completely remove fats like saturated fat or that they are all bad. It’s more that you want to be sure that you are not consuming excessive amounts and also understand the types you are consuming.
Huel does contain saturated fats, mainly from the medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) powder which comes from coconut. The amount can vary depending on the Huel product and flavor, but I wouldn’t say it’s excessive. Huel can be part of your intake if you are looking to lower your cholesterol. MCTs are also handled differently in the body when compared to other saturated fats, which we explain a bit more here.
How often are you looking to include Huel in your intake and what else are you consuming throughout the day?
Lastly, if you’re interested, here’s a link to a trial we did with participants who followed a 100% Huel intake for 5 weeks. This is not to say we recommend 100% Huel as we don’t because we think variety is also important to an individual’s intake, but more to show that Huel may be beneficial as part of your diet with this goal in mind.
