I have the non-latest update of Daily Greens, so apologies if it’s now miraculously delicious.
I am by no means a fussy eater but I simply cannot get on with the taste of Daily Greens. I’d describe it as something like pond water someone left an apple in with mushrooms growing around the edges.
It’s bad, but it cost me £45 so I’m determined to choke this stuff down one way or another. So far all I’ve tried is putting cordial in but that didn’t mask the taste so much as just making cordial flavoured pond water.
I’m not a fan of the taste of the original version either. I make mine with 100ml of water in a tea cup and stir it with a spoon and down it in a few seconds. It doesn’t help with the flavour granted but does just get it over with quickly.
To be honest though even if I did like the flavour I’d do this anyway as the recommended 250ml of water is far too much and I don’t need another 250ml drink in my day.
A dash or two of extra hot chilli sauce or Tabasco works a treat…the higher the scoville rating the better the result. As @coup said, less water works better and improves the taste. If you can also imagine him sitting in his underpants at the kitchen table with his pinkie finger raised as he sips greens from his bone china teacup and saucer it enhances the greens experience.
I preferred the version you have. Instead of pond water with apple, it’s now pond water with chemical sweetener. Some prefer this new one, sadly I do not.
An interesting one I saw the other day was someone was using flavoured water with the greens powder. I think they mentioned it was Volvic they used but of course, I don’t think it has to be that specifically
TBH its not that bad , I think if your used to cold press juicing then the product is quite palatable , just my view of course without starting a war !
To save me washing my DG container, I re-use my lunchtime Huel powder. Just fill it up with water to the top of the first H, add in DG, shake and drink.
Eh, I’m not sure it worked well with Franks sauce, just tasted the same but spicy. I may be on to something with tomato puree though, I didn’t want to use too much as I’ve not got much in, but I think that helped to make it a savoury flavour instead of a sweet.
If any Huel staff are reading could the idea of making it savoury, or a savoury version be floated? A tomato, veg or yeast extract kind of flavour might work. Again I’m not a fussy eater but this is genuinely making me bawk trying to consume it.
I’m pretty sure the only true way to make greens products more palatable is to condense them into a capsule form. As it is, taste wise, Huel Greens are about as good as you can hope for.
You can buy such products but I am not sure how they compare nutritionally.
I must say that now I’m nearing the end of my second bag of the new formula I don’t find the taste and issue at all. I mean for me it was never awful in the beginning and now it’s quite pleasant. As I’ve said several times, I use less water than recommended and also leave it about 15 minutes before I drink it. Giving it a final shake before I do.
Why does it taste like horse poo. I drink/ eat a lot of the shakes, so was expecting to get something that is like that but with all the greens I’d normally cook up. But 2024 daily greens is repulsive and fowl; I have to hold my breath and eat something straight away post to take away the after taste. Won’t be buying anymore of that .
