No you’re not wrong, all personal opinions
I reckon it all depends on how the sheep are kept, don’t you think?
As I understand it any form of animal ownership for the purpose of taking something of theirs for our use (sheep and wool for example, or bees and honey, etc) is viewed, essentially, as slavery.
Through that prism it’s immediately and obviously very wrong.
Whether we agree with that or not of course, is an ethical choice we each have to make. A few vegans I know consider used leather or rescue dogs fair game since they’re either recycling or saving something.
Yes that’s it in a nutshell.
Here’s a quick bit about sheep, wool etc.
Regardless of whether sheep like to be sheared or not (bear in mind humans have manipulated sheep to improve their wool yield; feral to wild sheep are not sheared; domesticated/farmed sheep should not be a thing if you are against animal slavery.
Amusingly I noticed that a certain well known mayonnaise company has decided to cover all the bases and refer to their new(?) range as being both vegan and plant based!

I guess they have to on the off chance they use mushrooms. which are not plants.
Well aren’t you just a fun guy…
I’ll get my coat.
Well they aren’t animals.
I’m a member of the mushroom liberation front.
true - but they are closer related to animals than they are plants. sort of a grey area. or beige. or mushroom.
It’s quite amusing that there are quite a few omnivores out there who seem to really care for the rights of mushrooms when debating vegans, while at the same time garnishing their steak with them.
Don’t mention bivalves by the way.
Mmmm bivalves… drool
Even if I wasn’t a vegan, I couldn’t eat those. I never have but I’d imagine they’d be like chewing on a fishy lump of phlegm. Then again I’ve never eaten anything like cockles, mussels, octopus, squid, crab. Never appealed to me.
It’s all about the scallops for me mate.
Not for me either
I love animals. I don’t eat meat (not for the past 25 years or so, anyway). I’m not particularly down with the ‘animal slavery’ thing - that feels like a stretch.
I have eaten octopus (still moving!) but never again, having read “Soul of the Octopus” by Sy Montgomery. Beautiful work about amazing animals. Shellfish don’t appeal because of just how sick they can make folks if they’re a bit off. Karma biting back, I guess…
The part I don’t like about the whole vegan mindset is that if I became more empathetic towards animals and reduced my meat consumption from 7 days a week to 1 day a week. I would not be vegan because I have to eat no meat ever again in my entire life to be a vegan. I find it perfectionist. That’s just me.
I am into Buddhism and was chatting to a nun once who believes in karma. Who view was interesting because many monks and nuns are at the least a vegetarian. She said whether you eat the meat or you don’t would have made no difference to the life of THAT particular animal, it died because it had the karma to die.
Just thought I’d throw a new opinion in to freshen things up
A nun like a Christian type nun!?
And she knew that because? Whether or not we believe in karma, is one human so enlightened as to be able to judge another animal or human life? We could apply that excuse for every ill under the sun.
Religious people (of all kinds) do that all the time. As Christian’s say; god works in mysterious ways.
