HI, I have just completed my first 2 weeks on Huel and I like it!
I am a fairly lean-built 41 year-old who used to do lots of yoga until about 10 months ago, I’m looking forward to getting back into it in september as soon as my work schedule allows it, but the past months have been very sedentary, very desk-bound and stressful. The result: 3-4 extra kgs that I don’t particularly care for, some digestive discomfort, general sluggishness, you get the picture.
I now drink 2.5 scoops of Huel every day for lunch and have dinner with family as usual - we have a reasonably varied and healthy diet but hey, we are Italian. I don’t really do breakfast at the moment, when I am not active I don’t feel the need. Here are a few random thoughts, so far:
-
I tried both the reformulated vanilla and the U/U and I am sticking with the latter. Sucralose is awful stuff, it gives me instant headaches (stevia too, same effect) and dizziness. My hunch is that a large part of all the issues people complain about here on the forum are down to sucralose.
-
my favourite Huel shake is 2 scoops mixed with 50/50 water and almond milk, plus lots of raspberries (frozen berries of all sorts really work too) - MINT LEAVES! they make all the difference!
-
Remember the 3KGs I mentioned earlier? they are gone
I also feel better, more energised - This is a great improvement for me as I often felt very drowsy and sluggish in the afternoon.
-
I see a lot of people find the mixture rather chalky and I did too in the beginning. I find that mixing in advance with a stick blender really helps, and also substituting some of the water with nut milk or half a banana gives it a creamier texture.

Huel makes me thirsty, I am drinking gallons of water, but that is supposed to be a good thing I guess.
