So, this took forever to upload. I had an issue the first time I tried, and then I forgot about it. So it’s actually been a couple weeks since I got my Huel. At first I wasn’t finding it filling enough, especially for work. But it’s been really useful at uni and for the last few days I’ve been eating “normal” breakfast and using it for morning snack-lunch-afternoon snack (one single 76g portion).
Left my Huel bottle at uni yesterday. Devastated. I’m drinking smaller portions out of the nutri-ninja cups right now.
Vanilla Toffee
Tried it again with 1 level tsp flavour system and didn’t notice the bitter aftertaste.
Vanilla Chocolate
400ml water
76g Huel
3 heaped tsp cocoa powder
100 ml water
Notes: Mmmm… tastes like chocolate milkshake.
The reason I have water twice is ‘cause my nutri ninja can only hold 500ml including the solids, so I add an extra 100ml (rinsed in the nutri ninja container) afterwards to thin it.
Vanilla Mocha
400ml water
76g Huel
3 heaped tsp cocoa powder
2 tsp coffee granules (decaf)
100ml water
Notes: So I’ve tried this twice, once with just blended granules, once with pre-dissolved granules. Dissolving is definitely better. Blending the coffee granules straight into it gives a really strong, uneven and slightly grittier flavour. Either way, it’s pretty good. Especially if you need a coffee kick in the morning.
It’s a log more liquid than your normal coffee mug, so make sure you put 2-3 times your normal serving in taste-wise.
Vanilla
400ml water
76g Huel
100ml water
Notes: Yup, tastes like vanilla and tasted like Huel. Bit like a milkshake.
Vanilla Chocolate Toffee
400ml water
76g Huel
3 heaped tsp cocoa powder
1 level tsp toffee flavour system
100 ml water
Notes: Not much different from the chocolate one really. The toffee isn’t a particularly strong flavour.
Vanilla Chocolate Banana
400ml water
76g Huel
3 heaped tsp cocoa powder
3/4 small banana
100 ml water
Notes: Bleugh. Too much banana. The banana didn’t blend particularly well, and made it kind of gummy to drink, and it stuck in my throat. Worth noting I’m not always a fan of banana, particularly banana drinks.
Vanilla Chocolate Raspberry
400ml water
76g Huel
3 heaped tsp cocoa powder
2 handfuls frozen raspberries
100 ml water
Notes: I actually made this with half the above amounts (inc water and Huel). The raspberry overpowers the chocolate a bit, but it’s pretty damn good anyway. The grittiness of the seeds is greater than that of the Huel and kind of masks/overpowers it, which I kind of like. It’s more like drinking a raspberry smoothie than Huel, texture-wise….and taste-wise.
