Ive just received my latest order and cant say how disappointed I was. I really liked the big bags - it allowed me the freedom to have a portion size that I wanted depending on the day/time to fit what I wanted or needed. I wasnt overly impressed last time when I gotten single pouches of the Madras, and like others have said, the consistency with the 200ml if water is totally different. Today not only did all but one of them not come in the big bags but the spaghetti carbonara now come in plastic pots just like a pot noodle !! Before it was easy to store 5 bags - now not only do I need a lot bigger space to store these things, which i dont have, the plastic use has more than doubled ! Regardless of whether or not it is recylclable it is still using a lot more plastic. Not exactly eco-friendly. What on earth is the logic for this change
Carbonara in a pot does indeed suck. I don’t mind the single portion bags and don’t think the plastic use increases much but I never use the pots even though my favourite H&S is carbonara so it’s a total waste as I just decant it into a food flask, and the pots are more plastic
Understood!
Of course we’ve gone over the whys quite a lot on the forum, but I still don’t want this to dismiss your feelings on this issue!
Essentially, the changes have been made to make sure you get a better experience. Without these changes long term, we could have seen these products be removed, and that’s what we both don’t want to happen.
Understand things can get lost on the forum so here is the thread on why the changes, which should hopefully answer all your questions - Hot & Savoury update - real talk
Yeah, the plastic has gone up with single-serve, but we didn’t make the change lightly. A lot of people struggled with consistent portions in the bigger packs, which led to a poor experience. The pouches aren’t recyclable, but they’re lightweight and less than 3% of the product’s footprint. It’s a balance, and we’re always reviewing our packaging.
With the plastic pot, we’re able to source our packaging from a local supplier based much closer to our manufacturing sites in the UK, resulting in an overall reduction in CO2 emissions.
