Hi, long-time user here, been using since 2017.
Long story short, I occasionally have freakishly high triglyceride levels. My diet without Huel isn’t great, hence me using it.
I’ve been referred to an expert to try and bring my levels down, and she asked me if they’re mentioned in the ingredients. I noted it mentions triglyceride powder for the coffee one I use. Can someone tell me how much?
She’s recommended I leave Huel for a week and have a blood test and see if there’s a change. I’m not convinced and neither is she to be fair, but I can understand her interest!
triglyceride Levels predominantly come from how much fat you are eating tho, i.e oils like coconut oil MCT oil and butters etc. so it’s not an ingredient as such that is just added
Triglycerides are a combination of:
- three fatty acids (i.e. saturated fat, unsaturated fat or both – these are the building blocks of fats)
- glycerol, a form of glucose (a simple sugar).
Saturated fat is always the one to be cautious of and the white powder is only 2.5grams per serving.
If you are only consuming huel and it has given high triglycerides then fair enough take a break but what else is in your diet, high fat wise that you are consuming.
Hi! Which Huel product are you consuming? There are lots of things that can contribute to high triglyceride levels, but in terms of dietary causes high triglyceride levels can result from over consumption of sugar, fats and alcohol.
Hi, it’s the coffee caramel I have one or two a day of, which it says contains triglyceride powder from coconut, but the doctor was wanting to know how much.
I’ve been investigated for the things you mention several times over the years, and although my diet isn’t great due to being a fussy eater (hence my general health improving since being on Huel and why I’m very loathe to stop now), it’s not that bad that it would warrant the huge levels I’m sometimes getting, and as Huel is the one thing she admits to not knowing too much about, knowing the level of triglyceride powder would possibly help the investigation.
So I’m going to be avoiding Huel for a week and having fresh bloods taken. As I say, I personally don’t think Huel is responsible, and hope it isn’t. But would be handy to know the level of the powered, because that and sertraline, which I also regularly take, could possibly be contributing? Fingers crossed it’s not though.
How did the test turn out after quitting for a week? Brand new to huel and genuinely curious because I have high LDL but am on huel to try to improve.
