I really ask myself why you are so fond of caramel - coffee caramel, salted caramel - do customers really want that? Many complain that complete shakes are too sweet due to the sweetener, or get sick of overly sweet stuff with time.
So why not a pure coffee flavour, and those who want it with caramel can add the salted caramel themselves? One has to order two bags anyway, at least if you don’t order other products.
You recently introduced Black Edition iced coffee RTD - so why not also iced coffee for the powders and regular RTDs?
This would be great! The best update you could do with the new year.
Huel did have a pure coffee flavour. I assume if it’s discontinued that would be that not enough people bought it to make it viable to continue producing it.
yeah they answered that on a similar thread - coffee powders had a very low order retention rate - presumably because people were just adding instant to their vanilla or UU powder themselves if they wanted that - while caramels have a very high order retention.
Appreciate the passion for sure! In regards to why we removed the core Coffee flavour can be found here on this thread - Save coffee flavour! - #5 by Tristan
In terms of this comment, is this something you find happens to you? If this is the case, we’ve known Hueligans to add coffee to their powder, whether this be in espresso format or even just part instant coffee. Is this something you’ve tried before?
Yes it doen’t mix well, especially if adding instant coffee powder.
It is just to gritty, too much like an oatmeal.
And I would not do it for the RTDs, my favourite product, as these are already very watery as they are, not calorie dense enough if one wants to live on 100% Huel.
But it sounds as if you don’t want to change it. I am already looking for alternatives.
Interestingly your most recent product lauch was RTD Black Edition Iced Coffee - yes, without any caramel.
If the combination of both was as popular as you claim - why did you do that?
Adding coffee would make your RTD too watery?
Not sure a typical 30ml espresso would make much difference in a 500ml bottle of RTD, except to the taste. In fact the extra flavour intensity might make the RTD liquid seem more concentrated, if anything.
If you just add instant coffee it doesn’t need any additional liquid. Just shake it and it will dissolve into the RTD.
To be honest I’ve not tried it with an RTD but it definitely works fine with the powder which I have done many times. Definitely not gritty or like oatmeal
Well, no one seems to share my opinion.
Vanilla/Original (which is basically also vanilla) is somethig I definitely don’t tolerate, U/U earthy/gritty - that’s what you recommended as base flavours. Just not possible for me.
I don’t want to second guess the decisions of the companie’s marketing team, though. Most people seem to be fine with them.
Maybe I should have a different flavour anyway - lived on coffee drinks only, now have a chronic gastritis, and I am severely underweight. Have sleep problems from too much caffeine.
I just have no idea what other flavour would work for me - which one tastes most simillar?
Other recommenations? Is there something that is so good that it goes down easily, also in larger amounts, without feeling nauseaus afterwards?
A couple of teaspoons of instant coffee in a mug, add half an inch of boiling water, stir and add to your Huel shaker before any other liquid. Works for me…
I mean you say this but there is a guy in the office who swears by it! He puts in an espresso (lets it cool down mind) gives it a shake and away you go and he’s never given any complaints!
This is a great base flavour if you are looking to spice things up to your liking. A lot of Hueligans tend to use this so can make this as sweet as they want. Alternatively we do have some people who use this as a smoothie base also to up the calories within this.
One thing we’d always recommend if you have any medical conditions is to consult with your GP to make sure that Huel is suitable for yourself
If sweetness isn’t an issue, the Cinnamon Swirl could be a real winner!!!
With the powders it is possible to replace part of the water with decaf coffee and sweetener to mark the otherwise intolerable, artificial taste of caramel (some kind of absolute junk food at the end) and pea protein. And use less volume to make it thicker. For meals in the evening it is necessary to use a decaf protein coffee powder if one still needs a “meal”.
The problem stays for the RTD though. I know it is gluten-free, but as it seems oats are a problem for me, I seem to have some kind of intolerance against this ingredient independent of gluten.

The black edition powder is great, but I had issues with the RTD, so I think I won’ use these anymore.
Caramel is still better than added cocoa powder, if the latter was ever part of one of your coffee flavours I would have to change the brand. So please don’t do that!
I suppose if you let the coffee completely cool I couldn’t see why this couldn’t be used.
Do you know maybe know what it is about the RTD that causes these issues? I know you said in the above post about “oats” but would be keen to know if its the Black Edition RTD or Original you had an issue with?
