Years ago I was using Huel frequently. I tried the products: powder, RTD, bars, Hot&Savoury. I have IBS and I’m Lactose intolerant, I also found out that I’ve an intolerance for Fructans. That means I can’t eat wheat, garlic, onions, and numerous of other things. Last month I found out I’m diabetic. So the products I can have is very limited. When I go out to eat or have to eat at work I use the capsules from ‘Intoleran’, which makes it easier.
I’ve irregular work hours, and I was always very positive about the Huel products. I don’t even know the reason anymore why I stopped using it. In 2024 I went to Dublin, I was in a store where they had the RTD Cinnamon Bun. Which I tried, and loved it. So, I thought why not replace one meal a day with Huel again. Instead of the RTD I now ordered the Black Edition Powder, and also Huel Complete Protein. I’m still wondering if I can eat the bars, but I need to go through the ingredient list first and compare them with the Monash app.
I like to know are there more that struggling with a specific diet?
Glad to have you back with us, we can find something that could work for you.
I want to work on getting the right information to you, just to confirm with the IBS are you needing to follow a low FODMAP diet?
For those who follow a low-FODMAP diet for their IBS, Huel does offer some low FODMAP options. Black Edition Powder can be a suitable food option for an individual who has IBS as it is low FODMAP. However, we recommend that you start with half a serving (one scoop) and see how you tolerate it due to the fibre content. Of note, Huel Hot & Savoury, Daily A-Z Vitamins, Huel Ready to Drink, and Huel Bars are not low FODMAP.
We’re happy to help and answer any further questions you might have just let us know
I know I have IBS all my life, but when I was a kid they haven’t all the information they have now. Ten years ago I found out that I have lactose intolerance, but the symptoms didn’t go away completely. So I decided to follow the FODMaP diet with help from a dietitian and found out after eating a Turkish Pizza that I have also a Fructan intolerance. This means no wheat, no onions, no garlic, no pistachios, no cashews…. And some other things.
And now I found out that I’m also diabetic, and with my irregular hours, I decided to use Huel again. It’s just easier also when I follow a IF 16/8. I eat between 12.30 and 20.30. My eat moments are 12.30, 16.30 and 20.00. So I can eat regular.
Thanks for the tip. I got the delivery yesterday. So starting today. I follow your advise for one scoop first, but I think it will be ok, because I never had issues before with the Huel Black Edition. But better safe than sorry.
