Everyday Superfood Greens Powder - new product for US Huel

The product is great, but I am quite confused about Huel Greens powder. It seems that if you have a complete diet and specifically a good one (with huel or not) you may cause mess up yourself on some specific minerals or vitamins.

For example i have on my daily diet half a spoon of Ceylon cinnamon, 100% pure cacoa mass, blueberries and then a normal diet + a huel every 2 days. So I try to have a minimal diet but high in micronutrients.

The issue with Greens powder its that I would choose it for the nootropic benefits, but maybe I am getting very very high on I dont know , molibdene for example that could cause potential trouble or disrupt X hormonal process of the body. I know that copper, zinc and some minerals are very influential on how the body and health works.

That is main problem, that Greens Powder seems perfect, and almost necessary (even a must) for someone that have a shitty diet full of carbs and not micronutrient intense (that guy you know that only eats pasta , potatoes and have a sugar based breakfast.

Also my second problem is that I am deeply interested on the nootropic side of Huel greens but I would love to take the botanical and mushroom concentrate but not having the minerals and vitamins.

Right now Greens powder its a weird product that could cause even problems for a healthy diet.
A blend without minerals and vitamins, could be much more useful for me.

I would love an official opinion from huel from this, because I am confused and I guess in 2023 huel could bring it to the EU

What makes Huel Daily Greens different from other greens powders?

Huel Daily Greens is a first for Huel – a greens superfood powder supplement made to boost nutrition in the diet. With a staggering 91 natural ingredients (more than other greens powders out there), Daily Greens is packed with vitamins, minerals and wholefood-sourced nutrients. At $1.50 per serving, Huel Daily Greens is also more affordable than a lot of the greens powders out there. We also happen to think it tastes better, but we’ll let you be the judge of that…

While it is always possible to get too many vitamins, a quick scan of the ingredients in huel greens doesn’t seem like there’s anything there that is in huge amounts and would cause an issue. All the vitamins (like C) that are in the powder in a large amount are well below the range the NHS would suggest is troublesome.

They keep using nutrients and ingredients interchangeably, which are not. I wonder which one is right.

If I counted correctly there aren’t 91 ingredients.

But thanks for the source

When I think about green powders I mostly think about phytonutrients. Even if Huel is rich in vitamins and minerals, it lacks many phytonutrients. There aren’t many leafy greens or legumes (I don’t count pea protein for this - as it is isolate) or red vegetables.

These contain compounds that have beneficial roles (anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immune booster, anti-toxic). There are obviously compounds that might not be as great.

So as far as I understand, greens are mostly to “swap” your fruit and vegetable intake (or rather boost it, supplement it).

Huel powders are good for vitamins and minerals, but not so good for the second. Some might argue that micronutrients from whole foods are more easily absorbable etc, but I won’t go there.

Therefore, I do see who would want it – people who want to ensure they are getting fully Complete Nutrition - or people that otherwise struggle to get fruit/veg.

As for nootropics, I feel that the concentration of the ingredients in Huel Greens is too low for any real benefit on that area. The blend is 173mg.

Ashwagandha dosage is often quoted at 600mg, 250mg at minimum (Ashwagandha benefits, dosage, and side effects)

Maca root 1.5g-3g Maca benefits, dosage, and side effects

Take into account that these dosages are not set or daily recommended intakes, but rather references taking some studies into account.

I tend to use nootropic blends for that purpose, and Huel might bring one in the future.

I would like to know if the Superfood Greens Powder is ‘wholefood’. I believe it might be - “it’s just powdered food” as Huel used to say - but the term is no longer used, hence the question.

Also, what’s the caffeine content on Huel Daily Greens?

if it’s not listed in the ingredients/nutrition then its either not present or below normal detectable levels (trace) - I had a quick look through and didn’t see it mentioned?

I found the thread in the US forum, and apparently, they are doing tests right now.

“Great question. We are still awaiting the test results on this so we cannot say for certain just yet, but will note that given the serving size of Daily Greens (1 scoop or 15 grams) and amounts in the product, we wouldn’t expect it to come back super high.”

What do you mean by wholefood?

Now I’ve seen this tweet, my question is redundant. I’ll delete it.

Hi can we please have this in UK

Is it EU restrictions in the way or just logistics? Maybe just easier to produce in the US.

@Falkman We wanted to prioritize our US customers for this launch and overall we saw higher demand for greens products from our US customers too. The ingredients for daily greens are only sourced for US, but having said this we’ve kicked off a project to see what can be done to bring Daily Greens to UK/EU so we’re hopeful for the future :crossed_fingers:

Most sports supplement companies in the UK offer a portfolio of Greens (and Reds), the majority of which are sourced from the US.

Any recommendations?

Without advertising a site directly, I’d suggest googling something like

insight supps greens and taking a look at the product panels and user reviews. There are many factors to take into account when choosing a product, it’s seldom a one size fits all.

The research I’ve done gives me very much an ‘Emperors new greens’ feeling about the greens market in general.

+1 for Daily Greens to come to the UK (this side of 2024!)

I’ve been looking for something like this for a while but the only attractive product until now is very expensive and beyond my budget. If Daily Greens has a similar price point here in the UK to the US then I could see it being very popular and I’d buy it regularly - it’s probably the premium price for similar products that have put people off in terms of your market research.

Presumably the US market is much larger and even given parity, greens powders is a more established product line there so it’s simply a business decision to launch there first, Im sure it’ll make it here for those that want it.
