Hi everyone, I’m a loyal Hueligan from South Korea.
Huel Essential has been a lifesaver for me. I usually have it with Greek yogurt and eggs, which helps manage my atrophic gastritis and keeps my stomach feeling comfortable.
I consume about 2,000 kcal of Huel daily and typically order in bulk. To save on shipping costs, I recently switched from air freight to ocean freight. However, since making this switch, I’ve started experiencing diarrhea and abdominal pain.
The product still smells like nutty grains and looks perfectly normal. I cannot find any visible or sensory difference between the “safe” batches and the ones causing me issues.
How can I distinguish if a batch has been compromised? Are there any subtle signs to look out for, especially if it was exposed to humidity or heat during long-term ocean shipping?
All my bags are well within their expiration dates. I’d appreciate any advice.
Hey, welcome to the forum!
Sorry, it’s not on better terms but this does sound a little strange.
If the pouch is sealed and hasn’t arrived damaged, it would be hard to tell if there is an issue with the product. That being said it’s worth dropping us an email at team@huel.com so we can look into this for you with the batch numbers and will be able to advise if there is an issue.
Thank you
Hi Mark,
Thank you for the reply.
First of all, I want to clarify that I’m not trying to say anything bad about Huel. I’ve already shared my batch numbers with the team, and I am very satisfied with the quick refund I received. I truly appreciate the support.
The reason I’m still posting this is purely out of curiosity. Since the product smells and tastes perfectly normal, I’m wondering if it’s possible for some “invisible” changes to occur that wouldn’t be detectable by scent or flavor, but could still cause digestive issues.
As a dedicated Hueligan, I simply want to understand how to distinguish such cases in the future, even when there are no obvious signs of spoilage.
Thanks again for your help!
