Huel 100%: 1 Week Challenge (Take II)

Day 1.7

Weight: 52.0kg

Food Intake: (1503kcal in)

  • 112g Huel, MochaFS by far my favourite combination
  • 60g Huel Granola
  • 1 Huel Orange Bar
  • 55g BerryHuel
  • 45g Huel Granola
  • 2 americanos

Activity: (2392kcal out)

  • Ultimate Frisbee tournament!!
  • 14,505 steps total

Other Observations:

  • Reasons for gaining: BM weight, weighed earlier, overate a bit.
  • Huel I’m gonna buy in the future:
  1. Original huel
  2. Huel flavour boosts—mocha, chocolate
  3. Huel Granola (both)
  • IM NEARLY DONE WITH THIS WEEK OF 100% HUEL wahoo!!! It’s been so very difficult but :’)) I realise that it is a perfectly viable way to become functional when I’m stuck in a bp rut.
  • Things I’ve learnt:
  1. I’ve realised that I can definitely socialise and postpone food for next time.
  2. I have a lot more control than I think I do.
  3. I still don’t break physics—CICO
  4. Not b/p-ing helps me lose weight
  5. Not b/p-ing helps me go to lectures and activities
  6. 100% Huel really does get rid of physical food cravings
  • Moving forward: I’m rewarding myself for sticking to the 100% Huel week with a planned binge tomorrow. I’m establishing that sticking to Huel IS A GOOD THING. I’m using the planned binge to satisfy my mental cravings because it’s been so difficult to resist urges. Huel has made it clear that it’s not about the food nor it’s taste; it’s about the process and as a coping mechanism for stress. I’ll start with Huel, then eat whatever I feel like and have been amassing over the week to delay gratification. Depending, I might do 100% Huel for the rest of the week.
  • (TMI alert: Gas&Poops, because what is a Huel review without them?) 12.04am: If there’s a downside to Huel, it’s all this STANKY BOMBS I keep dropping – many apologies to the kinda-boyfie!! Aghhhhhhh #TMIalert stools are also kinda weird and skinnier than usual. More difficult to pass.

Do you think it would be possible to gain weight (thats my goal) on a 100% Huel diet?

@Hdoyle I don’t see why not! If you type in the search bar you’d probably find some experiences there.

Huel’s just a very convenient and easy way to count calories and make sure you’re getting optimum nutrition. If you eat more than you burn, you’ll gain weight. The only caveat is that Huel has a lot of fibre and is (imo) quite filling, so you’d want to make sure you’re getting enough in once you calculate how much you need!

Well seeing as you’ve just told us you add Nutella and peanut butter () to your Huel I would’ve thought it’d be pretty difficult not to gain weight :grimacing:

@Hdoyle @ChristinaT omg yeah I just saw your post; daaaaamn I wish I could add Nutella to my Huel because I LOVE that stuff

(Also PB and Nutella is a bombass combination)

Literally, if you add 5 tablespoons more of PB into your Huel everyday in addition to your normal maintenance intake, you’d definitely be able to gain weight!

—Stats—
Start Weight: 52.3kg
Final Weight: 51.4kg
Weight lost: 0.9kg (ok based on weekly averages, it’s 52.2kg to 51.6kg so ~0.6kg)

If I do some more 100% Huel weeks or chunks, I’ll continue the thread here

—Edit—
Plan: 20/11-22/11 100% Huel (3 days at least)

Congratulations, just started day 1 doing 100%. Sorry if I missed it somewhere but while doing this what was your TDEE?

Thanks! Well it depends on the level of activity for that day really! In my log I noted “calories out” next to Activity

I’m 153-4cm short if that helps haha. All the best and feel free to ask if you have any questions!

I’ve been tempted to order some of this, the bars don’t get a great write-up on here taste wise (& they are expensive if I hate them!!) but I’ve seen other ppl say the granola is addictive & generally it gets good reviews it seems… & it’s less of an investment than a box of huel bars…

But then cereal etc has always been one of my worst trigger foods for a binge… & tho I am all about moderation & not banning stuff (cos then u want it more!) I DO practice abstinence with cereal 99.9% of the time. About twice a year I’ll say sod it & get some weetos or lucky charms & eat the box in 2 days but it has to be a forbidden rare treat for me :joy::joy:

So as much as I love huel & it’s nutrition & the way it stops me wanting sweet stuff, & the idea of huel granola is amazing… I have resisted ordering so far! I know you ate quite a bit the other day… Is it so filling that even if you binge on it, you can’t physically eat anything else after? Like huel itself is filling but I guess that’s the liquid as well as the fibre… I’m intrigued about huel food but I love the shakes so I dunno whether to venture into it! Thoughts??

@VenusFly Huel Granola is filling but not as much as the shake! It’s really dry though so you gotta drink water or milk. Ngl it’s a bit addictive but takes forever to eat if snacking on it by itself (I ate 180g over a span of 2h). But yeh I love the stuff HAHA
No harm trying I’d say! Definitely isn’t as sugar laden as regular cereal

Hmmm… Think I’m gonna give it a miss, its been months since I had any kind of cereal & gonna keep it that way! Maybe if I get really sick of the shakes tho?

I love granola, both original and berry, and have it every morning. Lovely with 100ml almond or coconut milk soaked in :yum:
