Huel with milk powder

Hi all, there are some excellent and valid points being raised here. However, the nature of this topic is emotive and a subject of much moral debate. Please recognise this in your replies and understand that we do not all share the same views, that is OK. Please do not make ad hominin attacks (attacking the character, not the content). The great thing is that Huel binds all of us, and with that we are all having a positive impact on the planet and in reducing animal cruelty.

I want to politely reiterate that keeping and slaughtering animals for legitimate reasons is allowed and morally ok as well as consuming their by-products. So you are wrong there as there is no cruelty involved.
Anyways, that said let’s end this.

You can’t make an inflammatory comment and then say let’s end this. It’s like people who spout random nonsense and finish with end of story. It’s not end of story, and just because its legal it doesn’t fit with my morals. Lots of things have been considered legal but as we develop and learn from our mistakes they may change.

End of story

Interpolo if you can share your evidence for the absence of any cruelty in the meat and dairy industries, we will all learn something new.

Or please at least share with us the understanding on which you base your conviction.

I’m genuinely interested, and I’m sure others are too. :+1:

Someone’s been on the wacky backy I think! Or they are being purposely obtuse.

Trying to give the benefit of the doubt here but maybe some people really think that if it’s not illegal it must be ok. Maybe there are people who are genuinely ignorant, alongside those who are wilfully deceived, or just too self-indulgent to care.

This lovely boy is Boris. He was raised in a school near me for an educational project and once the project was over was being sent to an abattoir to be murdered. The children at the school where this EDUCATIONAL project took place weren’t even being given the opportunity to go to the abattoir to show his lovely pain free, relaxed and chilled slaughter that he so wanted to happen.

Unfortunately some local do-gooders stepped in and stopped his slaughter and he’s now found a forever home. He found that home just 3 or 4 days ago.

Look at his little face.
Meat is murder
End of story.

Anyway I love to go on… Look at this pig…photographed just 2 days ago on the way to be killed.

Look at their little face.

Here they are at Tulip Meat processers in Ashton under Lyme near Manchester. Alas no do-gooders could come to their rescue. Suffocated with CO2 in a cage, throat slit then dismembered. No dignity, didn’t even have a name.

End of story.

Let’s end this.

Thanks for sharing that article Patricius, reasoning that unnecessary killing is always wrong, even if done so without pain and without cruelty.

Still waiting for your response here Interpolo. The article Patricius shared must affect your opinion I think, if your only justification is a belief in the absence of suffering.

Suffering is irrelevant.

Were the children aware of this?! Or was the truth kept from them? It sounds like a scandal either way.

I doubt you will get one. Interpolo seems to ignore posts which are contrary to his over inflated opinion which ironically he is more than happy to want us to read.

Morality is not a binary concept. Just because something is legal doesn’t not make it moral to all. While we can look to our laws as a guide to our own morality, we form far more from our own experiences and beliefs. To say something is morally okay is a sentence which only applies to the speaker and their beliefs.

Instead of:

Try:
In my life I accept that animals are kept and slaughtered, while it might not fit with others’ morals, for me it is ok

Please @anon10145348 recognise that your worldview is not the same as others. By making comments such as the ones you have made so far you are belittling others’ opinions and making it seem like your view is correct and thus, others’ is wrong (hopefully without realising).

For everyone else in this thread, so long as @anon10145348 can respect this, it is vitally important to this public forum to respect the views of others. No matter how much they differ from yours. Instead of attacking Interpolo for their differing view of what constitutes animal cruelty and suggesting they’re wrong, merely interject with your differing opinion and reasoning.

Not everyone who has Huel is vegan. In fact, most are not. Even those who are vegan can be so for different reasons: ethical, environmental and/or health. While I appreciate that when it comes to animal cruelty there is no spectrum, i.e. you cannot only be cruel to animals sometimes. However, we believe that by having Huel we can help reduce people’s reliance on animal products and help them to shift their diets.

With this in mind, please recognise that many here on this forum are not vegan, including myself, and we must respect this. If both sides cannot, I will need to close this thread before it get’s out of hand.

I don’t know everything about this story. What I do know is that off the back of it Viva (Bristol animal rights charity) is trying to set up a meeting with the school to give a talk to the children, and also as Boris has been re-homed at a sanctuary quite close to the school to arrange for some of the kids to go and visit him once he has settled in properly. This is the sort of thing that is useful (albeit on a small scale).

I agree, I think only a minority of Huel users are vegan; unfortunately ethical vegans are often a vocal bunch. I guess it’s like anyone who believes strongly in fighting injustice, whether it be animal incarceration, the right of women to choose what to do with their bodies, or the killing of innocent civilians in conflict - they are the ones who make the loudest noise. Without that noise nothing changes.

@anon10145348 hasn’t engaged directly with me but I don’t think I’ve been deliberately rude to them, just trying to get my point across.

I see from the packaging and branding on Huel Wear that there is a bit of a pro-animal stance coming through and the Be a Better Human strapline hopefully makes people think more carefully about their choices. Goes well with don’t be a Dick.

Finally, I quite like @anon10145348’s strapline ā€œLet’s end thisā€ - I’m going to incorporate it in my pro-animal rants, so thanks for that.

Glad to hear the story of Boris the Pig, hunzas. I imagine his rescue must have had a powerful effect on the youngsters. :pig: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
