[Product idea] Ready to drink meals in cans

Hi, I would like a ready to drink meal in aluminum cans or bottles. The 2 scoops from OG or black powder on a beverage, no preparation, just open, drink and toss recyclable aluminum. Made with water or oat milk for a bit of thickness.

What’s the issue with the 3 existing ranges of ready to drink products in recyclable plastic bottles?

I’m sure there is a long winded answer (I’ve asked the question to find out more for you) but there is probably a lot of food safety measures etc that probably have to be met hence why it we go for the plastic bottle.

Of course each bottle (Black edition & OG bottle) are basically a 2 scoop serving which requires no prep just open and toss the recyclable bottle in the correct place.

It’s always annoying and fugging disheartening when I see empty Huel bottles discarded in hedgerows and other random places, sometimes within actually sight of a bin (even if not one that is a recycling bin).

I would have hoped that Huel consumers would be a better type of person. But evidently many are not.

It would be no different if they were aluminium, some people just don’t care.

Aluminium is more environmentally friendly than plastic however, so maybe that’s why the OP suggested it

I don’t think aluminium is as suitable for the task though. For people who take one straight from a fridge, drink and dispose, OK, but I doubt I’m the only who has put an RTD bottle in a full bag which gets chucked around. Being plastic I know it’s safe and isn’t going damage anything inside the bag. There’s a reason single use bottles are plastic and not aluminium. You can’t reseal cans either if you don’t want to drink it all in one go.

Yes aluminum is more environmentally friendly, in most countries plastic recycling is a fad and when is done only around 30% is recycled. At least aluminum can be infinetally recycled and won’t be decaying into micro plastics for centuries in the ocean or landfills. Yes I’m aware aluminum cans got a thin plastic layer inside

Sweet thanks for clarifying, I think I read they are more protein drinks than meal in a bottle hence my post

Oh I agree. But I was trying to highlight what was possibly the OP reasoning, which they have now clarified.

Recycling and reuse is not a simple fix.
