I’m doing my own personal experiment into using Huel. I’ve been using Huel very on and off now for the best part of 2 years. I became a fully pledged Vegan 9 months ago and was so glad to still be able to indulge in Huel’s goodness.
Anyways, getting to the point. I used to be 10 Stone around 5 years ago and have since pilled on 3 stone and not feeling good about it at all. My plan is to start taking Huel once a day, then steadily increasing to the point where I can hopefully manage to maintain 100% Huel for ‘X amount’ of time.
So here goes:
Week 1 (1 Meal Swapped) - Weight drop from 13st 1lb to 12st 11lb - 4 POUNDS LOST
I will continue to update this thread with my progress, your support to keep me going is much welcome. Also anybody that wants to do this with me let me know and we could support each other.
I’ve gone from 13st 8lb to 12 st 8lb in about 7 weeks of Huel + some cooked meals. I found that trying to go 100% Huel I really missed savoury and spicy food. I could live without meat, desserts, etc. So I have some bean or lentil curry when I want to and this doesn’t prevent weight loss. I’m aiming for 11 stone or so eventually.
Thanks for replying; we can compare notes in a few months…? If I can achieve my target weight in a year from now I’ll be more than happy. I’ve carried the excess weight for a number of years now so shouldn’t be too ambitious at the start. Using Huel gives me the peace of mind to know that while restricting food I’m not missing out any important nutrients on the way. In the past I have wanted to be vegan, but the care needed to not cause deficiencies was too much bother, too much attention to food.
I’d LOVE to hit my target in 6 months but its VERY ambitious. I’ve also carried the weight for a few years now, its ALL visceral fat though.
Hardly any care is needed to not cause deficiencies to be honest, add your 5 a day fresh fruit and veg and pop a B12 tablet everyday and your mostly good to go!
I was a MASSIVE meat eater and steak lover, I went vegan overnight and 9 months later I couldn’t even think about eating meat again.
I find I’m off meat too now, without trying. When I said deficiencies I should probably have said excesses, as it’s quite easy to have too much refined or simple carbs and still be in the vegan camp. But with Huel that’s taken care of.
