Why no Vegan Certification?

Every time I see that I just wonder why they need to be reminded using such huge letters.

Like, was one ex employee such a massive dick that everyone now needs to be told not to be?

Why assume it’s an ex employee? We all know who it is.

I’ve just read the bit under Huel DNA ’ Brand is fucking important ’ they must do a lot of swearing in that place maybe they will put that on the Huel pouches next.

Huel is not wank it’s a fucking important Brand so don’t be a Dick!

I don’t particularly care about swearing either way but a lot of it is very oh look at us we’re so edgy when it comes to companies and it’s just the psychology around it that bothers me. ā€œDon’t be a dickā€ is a diktat telling all that see it to stop or avoid a negative behavioural trait. If i saw that at work I’d continually think ā€œbut I’m not a dickā€ (opinions may vary) every single time I passed it.

It’s like google’s old ā€œdon’t be evilā€ mantra and really speaks to the essential sociopathy of big companies, even those with well-intentioned people at the top.

I see stuff like that and just wonder why not set and reinforce a positive message instead? ā€œKeep being awesomeā€ for example, heck, ā€œKeep being fucking awesomeā€ if they have to swear, but remind people to continue a positive behavioural trait. I’d see that and think ā€œDamn right I’m awesome, you know I’m going to keep beingā€ and then go off and do my best work.

Agree 100%

It would piss me right off for my employer to say that to me. Which is effectively what people are being told continuously, by that being on the wall. Very demotivating. And offensive (not because of the language, but of the implied assumption that I’m a dick and need to be told not to be…)

I know that’s not how it’s meant. But that’s how it would make me feel personally

Same. Of course now it’s been made public Huel can never ever get rid of that wall because we’ll all be like ā€œoh, so they’re going to be dicks nowā€ just like when google pretended it was no big thing when they dropped ā€œdon’t be evilā€.

I think they should replace it with Dan’s new slogan of ā€œIt’s not wankā€ :joy:

Just want to chime in here and point out that no one suggested Huel was wank. The Vegan Council of Whateveritis, and knighthoods, those are a load of wank.

So using ā€œIt’s Not Wankā€ as a slogan is just going to put wank in consumers’ minds. Considering the appearance and viscosity of the product, I think that would be a mistake.

Stop spoiling our fun @david
