so hungry today, and a runny tummy last night. Looking back over this week so far, Monday I went about 300 over my calories (bank holiday, unplanned lasagne at parents house!) but I had (according to MFP and Map My Walk) done enough walking exercise to cover it. Still though I felt the need to be extra good on Tuesday and did a fasting (600 cals, 100% Huel) day - as I often do if I’ve had an off plan day/meal or I know I’ve got one coming - and went for a half hour walk. Then yesterday I was flat out busy so had my normal Huel (1 scoop for breakfast and 2 for lunch) but didn’t have any of the fruit/banana snacks I would also normally have through the day. I worked out that by the time I got to dinner last night - a normal healthy meal - I had done around 44 hours of pure Huel in which I had only eaten around 1060 calories. The ‘normal healthy meal’ of bacon and mushrooms with pasta and a slice of homemade sugarless carrot cake perhaps then was too much for my body to cope with? Starting to think maybe I’m pushing too hard…but I’m not finding it difficult, up until this morning anyway! Had planned on another fasting day on Friday to give me wriggle room to enjoy Sunday lunch out for my Mum’s birthday, but may well give it a miss.
A pretty good week I think, some exercise every day bar one, under my calorie count every day bar two and on both days the calories I gained from exercise (according to MFP and Map My Walk) covered the overspend. Fingers crossed for the scales in the morning!
3lbs off this morning! Which means I’m a quarter the way on my 100lb journey! A little slow down on the weight loss but I’ll definitely take that plus hoping the exercise means I’m losing fat and gaining muscle. Aiming for another 3lbs this week which will take me to 2 stone loss!
1st April: Start weight 16st 11lbs BMI 42.1
13th May: 15st 0lbs BMI 36.0
Total loss: 25lbs
Lol I follow a Facebook page called Pinch of Nom because they do great healthy low fat recipes and there’s quite a big community on there. A lady asked for recommendations for a meal replacement for breakfast as she struggles to eat breakfast, I replied that I use Huel and that is a fully balanced meal replacement and how much I love it, and my post was removed! Maybe they think I work for Huel
sooooo…in celebration of my birthday on Monday there was cake, chocolate, red wine and quite a lot of cheese. I did put everything in MFP, and it’s amazing how fast you can be 1550 calories over your limit!!! Now kicking myself as I had every intention of being good, because I know I’ll be disappointed if I don’t lose this week. And in hindsight (a wonderful thing) it wasn’t worth it. I felt so tired, bloated and sluggish on Tuesday, and I would say it’s only today I have really felt back to normal. Followed my normal plan as usual since then (resisted the urge to extreme diet to try and make up for it because I know from past experience it doesn’t really work for me) so fingers crossed I will still see a loss. Sigh!
It is indeed Good thing birthdays are only once a year. Not to worry, I’m sure you’ll soon be on the downward slope again, weightwise.
Definitely a good thing birthdays are only once a year! Thanks Bee, fingers crossed!
@Bee is right. And you know what? You fell off your wagon but you owned it, and now you can pick yourself up and get going again.
Your loss so far is incredible - 22lb in just over a month! - and you should be really proud of that.
I wish you all the luck in the world and will be following your journey from now on! You’re so close to the quarter-way point. I absolutely know you can get there
Thank you @thetambert!
I am proud of what I’ve achieved so far, definitely! And I’ve managed to keep on track so far the rest of the week, I have friends coming for the weekend but have planned a healthy dinner so hopefully not a problem if I’m sensible on the gin haha
1lb off this morning!
A little disappointed, as I knew I would be, that I fell off the wagon and didn’t achieve the 3lbs I was hoping for, but also really pleased to pull it back to some extent after Mondays transgressions and I’m in the 14’s!! Also achieved a 5 mile walk yesterday which is a first for me in many many years, so feeling good
This week will be a challenge, a business trip today and tomorrow with a formal dinner tonight, and then on Friday I’m off to a festival until Monday, possibly my biggest challenge yet! However as always I will go armed with my trusty Huel and shaker and see how I get on. Onwards and downwards!
1st April: Start weight 16st 11lbs BMI 42.1
20th May: 14st 13lbs BMI 35.9
Total loss: 26lbs
Survived business trip (and formal dinner), steak tends to be my go-to food in a pinch! And if I can muster up the will power to skip starter and dessert I’m usually OK. Even had enough calories left for a G&T
Just the festival to go… We’ll be in live-in camping, no electric but access to ice box, camping gas cooker and a kettle fortunately. Plan is Huel breakfast and lunch as usual, my son bought me a battery operated Promixx for my birthday which will be perfect, then while the others go and buy dinner from the food vendors I’m taking preprepped “stir fry bags”, I’m going to put straight to wok noodles, veggies and salmon in one meal Ziplock bags, take a frying pan and just tip a bag into the frying pan every evening, voila, dinner in minutes.
It does seem a lot of effort for one weekend I know, friends have said why don’t I just take the weekend off, but I’m doing so well I really don’t want to, plus I know I’ll feel rubbish afterwards if I undo a load of hard work and willpower by having a gain, it’s never worth it. Plus if I’m good on food I can drink more gin
Not as much effort / soul destroying as queuing for 2 hours for an £8 portion of dry tasteless chips with fake red sauce or a £12 burger that’s been cooked on a grill that’s not been cleaned in a week and tastes like butt.
I know terrible and seriously over priced festival food is all part of the experience but I’ve always enjoyed myself way more when I’ve taken my own food…
this is an excellent point, thank you @ChristinaT
although one of the food vendors is amazing and a favourite of mine, they used to come to a festival I helped to run, so there will be serious temptation
For that reason I will be taking Huel to Glastonbury Festival this year…I’ll take along a mixture of RTD, bars and powder. It wasn’t on last year, but the previous year I took powder and bars and it was all good.
It’s the only festival I am attending this year.
@clairabelle_xox Really proud of you for sticking to it and cooking it up! I’ve often been in situations where I take a healthy option but then end up ignoring it and buying junk anyway, so really well done you!!
@thetambert thank you! x
So far so good, 2 days down and stayed under my calorie limit, yesterday by only one calorie
Not finding it a hardship really either, Huel for breakfast and lunch as usual, then while the others are paying £12 for pizza l’m heading back to the tent for healthy noodles. Harder is limiting gin intake haha
Today and tomorrow morning to go!
Survived the weekend 100% on plan. The scales tomorrow better show it was worth it although in all seriousness I feel so much better and healthier for sticking to it, last time I fell off the wagon I felt sluggish and lethargic for about 3 days. Definitely not worth it. Fingers crossed for tomorrow
@clairabelle_xox I always think that resisting yummy food should burn a lot more calories than it does! Really well done for making it through the weekend.
I did too, and then had a dream last night I was chugging beer! Woke up feeling so guilty! Good luck with your weigh in xxxx
