An incredible new Bar and some changes to Bar pricing – as of November 27th

Well I’ll have to recreate my own… with cacao and stevia and… hmmmm I have no idea what the secret ingredient is.
Maybe I’ll just have to blend in dark chocolate instead.

After trying the Plenny Bar with 400 kcal I am very very fullfilled with it. Its very small and very satisfying. Much less sugar and the energy is very low release. Its incredible, I would even want to be increased to 450kcal. I dont want to advertise Jimmy Joy here, because I am a Huel guy, but I would love to see that big bal, full meal sized

I like those too, but like I said earlier in the thread: if you want that in a Huel bar, just bring two bars.

For goodness sake. Eat a JimmyJoy bar when you want a 400kcal meal in a bar and eat a Huel bar when you want a 250kcal or now 200kcal snack in a bar. Job done. It’s what I do and have done for years.

As others have said, you are not restricted to only eating one bar at a time. Huel can’t possibly please everyone all of the time but seems they can’t please you any of the time.

I had the same question when l read the email. Still in the trying phase.

Can’t wait to try the salted caramel ones  I love the 3.0 bars, but they are bit dry. These seem to be an improvement on that.

We’re still waiting on test results to confirm that v3.1 is low GI. Based on the v3.0 and the changes I would think it is of a low GI like v3.0.

Huel Bars are not classed as low FODMAP because they contain soluble gluco fibre. However, the v3.0 bars were not classed as low FODMAP either so eating in moderation with your tolerance levels may mean they’re okay for you.

Thank you @Phil_C! I thought I was going mad… why is everyone banging on about a price increase?? Yes I understand price per calorie has increased by £0.0006, and many Huelers use these products to carefully count calories, but what sort of cyborg feels a tangible difference in price per calorie? The price of the boxes and price per bar have both gone down and I for one am pleased to hear about an increase in flavours and texture improvements across the range. I remember many of the more vocal complainers on this forum getting upset when we transitioned to 3.0 because “2.0 is perfect”, now you’re fighting to keep the product you were sure would be inferior!

@Tim_Huel, how different is the flavour of 3.1 chocolate from 3.0 cacao? Likewise for 3.1 chocolate orange to 3.0 cacao & orange?

@lewisoc yes

The bars aren’t one calorie though. They’re 200 calories. Let’s say I have one bar every day. £0.0006x200x7. That’s 84p per week. Or £43.80 per year. That’s not an insignificant increase.

It’s a small increase but it’s not fair to call it mad. I wish £43 a year was nothing to me, but unfortunately it isn’t.

Personally, I accept the change and I’m not fighting to keep the old bars or price. I’m just disappointed at life getting more expensive, and talking about it.

Yeah i get where you’re coming from absolutely. However, if you’re using Huel to lose weight, factor in that as you lose weight your calorie requirement per day will decrease, saving you money on Huel!

I wonder if the savings are more than £43 a year

I’m using calorie counting to lose weight. It’s free.

I will say that Huel makes it easier to count calories, which saves time, and time is money, so you’re partly right.

Sorry, what I meant was, that as your body-weight decreases, your TDEE will also decrease, meaning you should be decreasing your calories consumed per day. That’ll save a bit of money compared to your initial calorie requirements. It’s probably tiny though

Oh yeah, I know what you meant. I’m just saying that my weight loss isn’t because of Huel, and if I’m saving money on food it’d be nice to spend that money on things that aren’t food, rather than the price of food rising to wipe out the savings.

But it’d be interesting to calculate how much I’m saving due to my TDEE coming down. I actually think it’d be significantly more than £43/year.

edit: very rough calculation assuming 100% Huel powder diet, and going from 230 lbs to 170 lbs. The saving is £1 per day, so it’s very nice. It’s complicated by the fact that my pre-Huel, unhealthy diet was far more cost-effective than my current, mostly Huel diet. But if I went back to that shitty diet, but at my current weight, I’d still save a significant amount of money.

I’m going way off topic so, sorry everyone who wants to read about new bars.

Would like to try these but will only ever do so if there was a small sample pack. Threw away a load of previous ones as I really didn’t like them.

I got this via Twitter

As I read here the bars will be low FODMaP. Also I checked the ingredients and compare them the 3.0 bars contains date syrup and that’s classified as a FODMaP. People who start this diet needs to eliminate this in the first phase of the diet.

If this is the case I will be very HAPPY!

I would also like to see a sample pack of all the new bars combined, available to order in addition to other products, as you did for the fb samples.
I would never have bought flavour boosts without sample bags and I haven’t bought bars because there are no sample boxes.

So, four flavours now… there must be a multipack coming? You can’t expect people to buy 64 bars to try all the flavours @Tim_Huel ?

That answer is regarding the Huel Powders, which are low FODMAP, sorry for the confusion.

It is the soluble gluco fibre that you need to watch out for but as there is a small amount you maybe okay. Also, the FODMAP diet is a temporary elimination diet so if you find such fibres are okay then you will be fine with the Huel Bars.

£0.06/100kcal is a 10% increase in price. I would consider that to be significant, even if, as you showed, it doesn’t add up to much in the end.
