I’m wondering though if it will be above the average-meal quality threshold. I know that this isn’t a strict definition but Joylent’s Twennybar is somewhat bellow that threshold. It’s better than junk food but not better than an average quick meal. People have tried to live on Twennybars and they felt somewhat sick after a few days, like something was wrong (most blame high sugar and saturated fats content). I wonder if the formula that Huel designs, though not ideal for solid reasons (sorry couldn’t help it), could still be ok as a meal replacement quality-wise.

This is where people go wrong. I have not read about the Twennybar but I’m pretty certain it was not designed to be the sole source of nutrition for an individual. It was designed to be a “better than junk food” snack to keep you going until you can eat something wholesome.
It’s like that super size me film. McDonalds is shit food yes but making a programme to highlight it’s shit food and what happens if you eat it 100% is completely stupid.

I agree somewhat, however McDonalds initially intended for their food to be able to cover a 3 meal day for the average human. It’s not like saying “beetroot is great for you, but you’re an idiot to think you can live only on beetroot” because beetroot is one single food. McDonalds is a whole series of food making up a fat/protein/carb format. The highlight of Supersize Me was how it isn’t physically possible for a human to live on the lie McDonalds were quite literally feeding to them.
Huel is an identical concept, and is acheiving and is actually very good for you. The difference I believe is that the people behind Huel have the correct profit to customer care ratio… as in, they actually do care about the customer!

People go where they are led. If a product says it provides 20% of your needs, it’s not much of a leap to assume that 5 of them will provide 100% of your needs. It should not come as a surprise that some people will try 5 bars a day, so they should really have made it safe for people to do that. Joylent being a meal replacement product with the slogan “healthy, fast, cheap and tasty” on their website.

I consume way too many Twenny bars. They taste great and are incredibly convenient, but they’re definitely not a healthy thing to eat regularly like I tend to quite often.
How likely will Huel bar arrive this side of Christmas?

Excited about this. I’ve always wanted to get into protein bars, but being a vegan UK student it’s not easy to find cheap vegan ones that aren’t stupidly expensive/shipped from America.

I’m a big fan of twennybars, and fair play to Joylent because they do describe it as a snack instead of a meal. I couldn’t imagine just eating them for a month but I do prefer them to a bag of crisps or whatever.
Easy to take along, perfect for brunch, an ideal late night snack or for any other moment you feel like having an extremely nutritious snack.
I’m hoping for something along these lines from the Huel bar. Though I’m looking forward to the usual high quality ingredients and general ‘betterness’ that Huel powder delivers compared to everyone else 
I’m looking forward to replacing Huel with Huel bars, as it’s much more pleasant and customary to chew on your food rather than drink it. I hope it will be made possible.
