Huel bars review

Yeah, they could send it to you in big bags in powder form. All you need to do is add water. I think that’s what they’re planning to do next.

You jest, but I have thought the same. With people getting used to the bags, it’s easy to wonder if you could package several bars together, eliminating the excess waste. No idea if that’s feasible, but at the very least, is bio-degradable packaging an option?

That would be awesome ! Honestly, the only thing that makes me reluctant to buy the bars is the amount of non-recyclable waste I would produce due to the packaging…

One option might be to sell larger bars with a resealable packet, so you could just break a chunk off whenever you’re hungry.

I also bought the bars in the first week they came out and as has been mentioned the only problem I’ve had is that they are very dry I’d like to see someone eat a whole one without a drink. It’s very nice to have solid huel food though so please keep innovating on this front but I wouldn’t mind if they were a little bigger with a higher moisture content

It would be lovely - however, the packaging is to preserve the micronutrients that could be lost. Also, we need to protect the fats in the bar from potential oxidation which would make them bad.

Unfortunately, the packaging needs to be like it is for these reasons.

I’d try this and quite possibly buy it regularly. I love cake batter! And I know I’m not alone. I’ve heard that in the US there’s a debate about eating raw cookie dough. (Upshot: it’s probably okay if you make it yourself with pasteurized eggs.)

My point is, there might be a market for that experimental recipe you tried back in December. Are you a professional food bar maker?

I’ve actually been meaning to have another crack at this, as I have some good ideas on how to make them less squishy.

Here is the recipe I referred to which is too squishy IMO.

They are okay if you eat them directly from the freezer though.

I definitely can’t tolerate the Huel Bar. Upsets my guts far too much. I get really farty if I eat Huel Bars. After a break of several months, I decided to buy a 5 pack and try again, but I got the same problem again.

I think the troublesome ingredient is the polydextrose. It’s known to cause digestive problems:

I have the same issue. No problems with regular Huel.

I am also very happy with the bars and I agree that they are surprisingly filling. In fact they are so filling I am having trouble finishing this sentence.

I hoped to like the bars but unfortunately, I’m not a fan. I tried the free bar and I just found it to be very dry, with a chemically taste (much stronger than the vitamin-y tang of the shakes). I ate half of it before giving up. It was quite filling. But it was free so I’m glad I got a chance to taste without buying them.
I’m curious to try incorporating U/U into a cracker recipe for a savoury on-the-go snack.
