HUEL diet - help

I’m looking to loose weight before my wedding 11 months away. I have just brought huel diet but it’s all new to me.

Quickly reading it over it says to replace with 2 meals, my thinking is to replace my breakfast and lunch as I’m always on the go anyway and then just eat a proper meal when I’m home, would this work ? along side drinking water throughout the day.

My question is would this work and are there any other recommendations that people suggest etc ?

I swapped to diet Huel and I think I’m losing weight. I don’t have breakfast and I do one (200 calories) for late lunch. I don’t have a scale and I go crazy on the weekends so my opinion is based on feelings so far. I’ll know more in Easter, when I go to my parents, if I remember to use their scale.

Anyway, diet Huel makes me feel full with half the calories. It’s not as tasty and same price (so twice the price per calorie) but convenient. I can fine tune my intakes and spread them along the day.

Are you having the power with milk or water ?

Or does it make a difference for which you use ?

Huel is not a diet. Huel is ‘just food’, it’s just in a different form.

Despite what nonsense you may encounter out there, the foundation of losing weight is being in a calorie deficit. When your body is in a calorie deficit it converts the fat reserves into energy to make up the shortfall.

How many calories you need to maintain your weight depends on many factors like your size, muscle mass, activity level, natural metabolism etc. It’s something you can work out over a few weeks using 2,000kcal as a starting point. For long term, healthy, sustainable weight loss (fat loss more specifically), you want to be in a weekly average calorie deficit of 3,500kcal a week, so roughly 500kcal per day. This will result in 1-2lbs of fat loss per week on average. Huel is a great product to assist with weight loss as you can precisely track how many calories you are consuming, whilst also getting complete nutrition for that meal.

Being in a deficit doesn’t necessarily mean eating less food. You can eat the same amount of calories as before, or more, but do 500kcal (or more) worth of exercise to create the deficit.

In relation to how often to have Huel, that’s entirely up to you. You don’t need Huel at all to lose weight if you maintain a calorie deficit but Huel is an excellent product for weight loss, and Huel for breakfast and lunch is a common thing people do. I also find a Huel shake 1hr before exercise is great as it doesn’t take long to digest and then I’m full of energy for my workout.

It would work but as my esteemed (yet very expensive to know) pal @Coup said, it’s all about being in calorie deficit

Having said that, our hammock loving, pub dwelling, holiday making, slack arse friend @Mark_Huel has been too lazy to actually tell you about the new Huel diet powder meal that’s just launched in chocolate or banana (or mix into banana chocolate for the ultimate win). Less calories but with added vitamins and minerals.

But thanks to me, jumping in and doing his job as always, now you know.

I mean, it’s know it’s a running joke that the forum is the last place to be told anything but I think we’ve reached a new low now. People coming to ask advice on products we haven’t even been told exist.

I’ve just had a look at ‘Huel diet’. Regular Huel is 400kcal per 100g, diet is 385kcal per 100g so the calorie amounts are essentially the same. Diet does have ~27% more protein per gram, so I guess this is to help with feeling fuller for longer which helps towards consuming less calories. Not sure at the moment why you couldn’t achieve a similar result with using Black edition instead with less calories.

The marketing is different. With regular, 2 scoops are a ‘meal’ (400kcal), with diet, 1 scoop is a meal. Whether this translates into a meal for any individual is pure chance. For a big unit trying to lose weight, 200kcal ‘meal’ is not going to cut it.

Anyhoo, however you cut the cake, or whatever you consume, it’s still all about calories in vs calories out.

We’ve not even posted about it on our core socials.

All the details were going to come to the forum today. According to you, at this point I’ll have to get you on the books.

Thanks for the feedback Coup. We’ll make sure that you are all informed better going forward. Like I said before, not many people will probably know about it as we’ve not posted on our core socials about it or gone out with a big email releasing it. I had planned to bring it to the forum today but you guys are eagle-eyed and have already got ahead of me.

Hey Ryan!

Welcome to the forum, you’ve come to the right place to get all ya help.

So traditionally, we’ve always had people follow the 2 meals a day and a more traditionally low-calorie meal in the evening or vice versa, depending on what works for them.

To lose weight, you need to consistently eat fewer calories than you burn. Most of the time, people tend to just cut their calories by 500 and find they have a steady, consistent weight loss.

We recently brought out a product called Huel Diet. This is a nutritionally complete meal replacement, not a supplement. Each serving is formulated to provide balanced macros and a high level of vitamins and minerals at 200 kcal. I’ll share some more details a little later about this but this could be a really awesome option for you.

My last bit of advice would be hydration. When starting a weight loss diet, make sure you keep hydrated. Sometimes you might thing you’re hungry but actually you are just thirsty.

Congrats on the Wedding, you make sure you keep us posted on your progress and if there is anything else we can do to help :face_blowing_a_kiss:

Don’t make it out to be my fault :joy:

You better stop or I’ll take your calendar privileges away. I got some fun things coming up and if you upset me, I’ll pull the plug :wink:
