Anyone suffering from IBS and have experience with Huel (and maybe Huel bars as well)? It is believed that 10-15% of people in the developed world is affected by this, including me
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a group of symptoms—including abdominal pain and changes in the pattern of bowel movements without any evidence of underlying damage. These symptoms occur over a long time, often years. Hi Gabriel,
There are a quite a few peeps with similar issues, it might help you to check out some of the comments from the threads below.
Fellow associated IBS person here!
My first three days on Huel (One 3 scoop meal per day) were a bowel revolution to put it politely. Having calculated how much more fiber I was now consuming compared to my previous eating habits I suspect that is what did it for me!
As soon as I started flavoring it and drinking it slowly with a thinner consistency everything settled down to just give a comfortably sated feeling.
Stick with it and I hope it settles down for you too!
I’m a new-ish Huel user, I’m at the end of my 4th bag 2nd order and ~5th week. I normally have an extremely fragile gut… I’ve played around with a few things and have gotten to a good place where my system is in sync with the inclusion of Huel my diet. I find Huel is more disruptive when taken by itself, in large qty (more than 3 scoop servings) and without an almost equal qty of water.
It takes some adjustments, but can be done stomach disruption free.
Hi guys,
So I have been using Huel for the past 3 months or so and I love the convenience, like the taste (2 scoops unflavoured and 1 scoop vanilla per 500ml) however it has always given me bowel problems
I have gradually increased my Huel intake from 1 shake to 3 per day plus my normal 3 meals (circa 3.5k calories a day). What attracted me to Huel was the convenience of not having to cook so much but I think I’m going to stop taking it as it gives me terrible gas, bloating etc…

I have IBS, as stated in a previous post, drinking Huel as a lunchtime replacement has completely stopped my symptoms, no more painful bowed spasms. I now have a normal functioning bowel, no more medication.
I don’t use the bars, they are not to my liking.
