Is there anyone else on here that mixes there powder with semi skimmed milk
Iāve used soya milk, worked well. Seemed unnecessary thoā, I think straight is better.
Maybe not active forum members however we know lots of people who use semi-skimmed milk so you are not alone!
If you are using Huel for weight loss though make sure you remember to count the calories for the milk
I tend to have a āmilkshake-Huelā made with semi-skimmed milk once or twice a year.
I used Arla BOB a few times until I realised it was semi-skimmed and stopped buying it.
Much prefer whole milk
Iāve found mixing with water is perfectly sufficient (and cheaper!), then found the mouthfeel can be improved by adding a small amount of oil. I tried rapeseed oil; no taste difference. Out of curiosity, I tried olive oil (the healthiest plant oil, but also the priciest), and surprisingly that wasnāt detectable in the taste either. Iāve nothing against adding milk, but milkās advantages in its minerals and vitamins, are already covered by the powder.
Never had that one before but thank you for the suggestion!
A moderator reply on another thread (which I lost track of, while looking the below up), pointed out milk contains calories, which should be taken into account when calorie-counting; something which didnāt occur to me before. Iām not full-on calorie counting yet, but Iām working towards it.
Tesco semi-skimmed is 250kcal per 500ml.
Lidl semi-skimmed UHT is 170kcal per 500ml. (Unverified)
Alpro oat āmilkā is 205kcal per 500ml.
unsweetened almond milk will be one of the lowest calories counts but a lot of brands of plant milks when used with Huel make it very thick - almost slimy - thanks to the combination of gums in them. I remember using Alpro oat milk with it once and it came out like an extra thick shake so ended up doing half milk half water.
I used to do that combo but these days I find that it thickens up plenty with just water when refrigerated overnight. Oat milk makes it creamy and oat milk from the UK (MoMA or Glebe) is the most environmentally friendly too.
Use water not milk.
