I’m planning on starting a new challenge as of 1st September. I plan to live exclusively off Huel for the entire month (perhaps with flavours such as coffee or coco powder added). The huel will be mixed with soy milk instead of water and I’ll continue to drink tea (no sugar) throughout the day, which I’ll take into account when calculating daily intake.
I’m a 23 year old female, somewhat over weight (5’6, 12 stone, inactive, dress size UK 10-12). I’m not doing this solely for weight loss but I thought it would be cool to see how one can practice self discipline and the positive effect that will have on health. I’m not much of a junk food eater, I’m honestly just pretty physically lazy and eat large portions. I’m not used to eating during the day so it will be interesting to see if I notice any benefits from this.
I’ll aim to eat between 1200 - 1400 calories a day. I have no idea what I currently eat but it’s likely 1800+. I may do moderate exercise and some weight work but nothing too intense. I may continue to supplement with the VEG1 tablets to be on the safe side.
Would anyone be interested in joining me? If it goes well then I could post progress photos!
This isn’t sponsored, nor is it tracked by Huel (though that would be cool, if you’re listening!) and I’ll be purchasing the Huel myself.
Let me know if you would be interested in following or joining in the experience
Archimedes, I have a bunch of food to get through first and waiting for pay day to stock up on Huel. When are you starting? What are your goals?
Noonaldinho, nice! How many portions of Huel are you currently on? I bought 1 week supply of Huel and have had a few so far of the Vanilla. It’s tasty stuff. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to stomach it for 4 or so meals a day.
I’m tempted to do the challenge myself but I don’t think I’d be able to get around the social eating side. How are you planning on doing it around friends or family?
I eat Huel at the dinner table with family. It’s not the same as their food but not all of their food is necessarily the same as each other’s. Huel is food at the end of the day - how it is eaten is the difference. I’ve not placed it in a bowl and spooned it but perhaps doing that to start with then phasing it out if it makes it easier for them to understand??
I live with my partner and we only eat dinner together so it isn’t much of a social sacrifice for a month. I suppose it would be challenging if you socialise over food a lot.
Hi @earthlingmichelle & Everyone!
I’m in-ish!
I’m increasing my intake of Huel as of next week from errr-nothing currently LoL!
Next week I’m going to start with Huel for breakii & dinner with food for lunches - hubby’s away Mon-Thurs so shud be no biggie other than my fatty bum bum appetite to overcome!
On a w/e I’ll swap to Huel for lunch and have dinner with hubby; Salad leaves, lean meat/fish and a clean carb.
As of Sept I can attempt to join 75% Huel Mon-Thurs - I like a nibble of a protein bar with a coffee morning and afternoon - I think that will help keep me sane tbh - w/e’s will remain as above.
I’ll post here but I also have my journal: My Blog
Thanks for starting this thread @earthlingmichelle!

I’ve always used soya simply because it’s tasty in tea. I’ve tried other plant milks in tea but they do not taste good imho. But they may be tasty with Huel, so I’ll grab a variety. I haven’t experienced any problems with soy though and I drink and eat quite a lot of it, probably around 500ml a day. I think almond and hazelnut are supposed to contain less calories than soy anyway right?
Currently just getting use to it; trying different flavourings and such to see what I can happily have, then I’m going to blitz it. I recently got the Huel own Strawberry flavouring and it’s actually amazing, so I’m happy I’ve found one that I can easily chug down.
I would do the one month challenge, but I’m going to Toronto for two weeks mid way through haha. However, I’m starting Hueling Monday, so I’ll make it a 2 week August, 2 week September split!
I agree…in tea, soya is the only one I like…but for everything else (apart from coffee too) it is the worst. For example I couldn’t drink a glass of soya milk on its own, but almond, coconut, oat, etc are all delicious. Both oat and almond are great with Huel. I always used almond, but recently tried oat and that is now my go to choice.
Cinnamon
Chia Seeds
Maca Powder
Matcha Green Tea Powder
Spirulina (it’s a bit funky but super healthy)
Ginger powder (grated fresh is better)
Cacao Powder
Cayenne if you fancy some heat
Cooled infused teas - not black, go for greens
Zero sugar flavour drops
Honey
I was planning on doing a month’s trial myself at the start of September. I’ve been using Huel to replace breakfast and lunch during the working weekday without any real side effects, but I can’t quite muster the discipline to stick with it at the weekend. And that’s something I want to improve, my discipline!
