One Month Huel Challenge

Hello,

I’ve been using Huel to replace 1-2 meals for the past couple of months. I like not having to think too hard and about what I’ve got to do.

I think this September challenge is a great idea and would love to join you all.

I’ve been steadily putting on weight for the past few years and have now tipped the scales at 13st which on my 5"3 frame makes me look pregnant. I have a bad relationship with food and am generally unhealthy so combined with 100% Huel I’m going to get back into running. Like Michelle I’m planning on using September as a month to get my shit together.

I’ve got a tough weekend ahead and will be away so I’m starting Monday when I’m back in work. I have a couple of social things planned towards the end of the month and will also supplement Huel with some crunchy snacks. I seem to miss proper chewing so I’ve been having a late after noon snack of cucumber, spinach and tomato at work to overcome this.

Look forward to getting to know you all better!

Claire

Ha, when you said you had body shots I totally thought you meant the boozy night out variety! I was so confused when you said they’d bummed you out… shots in the morning is always a win. LOL.

What part of Huel are you tired of if you like the taste and are not missing eating to taste of other food?

I find, if anything that I enjoy it more now that I have been using it for months…I am not sure that I could use it 24 x 7, but twice a day and I look forward to it. I spent some time getting the taste and texture as I liked it and am now very happy with the way I make it…although now and again I do add flavourings to mix it up a bit.

I mentioned somewhere in the forum before that as a kid I dreamed of a world where a pill would provide all my nutrition, but amongst other things, providing the calories and the feeling of being satiated would be tricky.

You giving Huel as a meal for someone not expecting it would be interesting to watch.

I found I tended to get tired of v1.0 more easily because it was sweeter so I would sometimes get tired of always having the same sweet flavour. Since v1.2, I find I don’t tend to tire of it so easily. The sweetness is more subtle so I tend to not notice it so much.

I’ve had a 100% Huel day today without any problem, which was 6 x 3 scoops of v2.0. I did 56 lengths of the pool as well, but maybe that’s not really relevant. Although at one point shortly after my swim, for some reason I felt like maybe buying some crisps, but in the end I couldn’t bothered standing in the queue so I went home and had a bottle of Huel instead which was fine.

@earthlingmichelle, are you alright? If the challenge is being especially challenging, well, that’s important to hear, too.

hi all, I started fully on the 2nd so i’m 8 days 100% huel, going well 3 shakes a day setting my calories to 1500,

how is everybody else doing.?

Today is my first day of my personal task to see how long i can stick to huel only for

Anything less than 10 days and i will be disappointed in myself

Well

Im disappointed in myself

Hi guys, I’m back. I needed to take some time to myself. I’m doing alright though, thanks for asking! Not been on Huel 100%, which is a shame but I’ve also been working out here and there and so I haven’t totally failed haha. I’m dusting my knees off…

I think 100% Huel is doable. But despite having been completely enthusiastic for it initially, I feel the best thing for me at the moment is to eat Huel alongside a healthy dinner. I tend to be all or nothing and get really into things. But that’s not sustainable long term and since I want to stick to eating well, working out and being a functioning adult (that shit is HARD), I need to practice some healthy moderation.

I don’t feel bad about ditching the challenge if it means I can stick to improving myself and my life every day. I do feel bad about disappearing though, that wasn’t cool. Sorry about that.

For those of you who are doing the challenge, how is it going?

HelloOo! :grinning:
Glad you’re ok
Yes, I’m the same for being all or nothing :unamused:
I decided I need food but am happy to be replacing breakfasts with shakes and having them for dinners on nights I exercise late :innocent:
xx

Misery loves company, so I’m glad I’m not the only Huel dropout

Okay so for dinner this week I’ll do:
Mon - Veg & Tofu Stir Fry
Tue - Baked Potato & Salad
Wed - Vegetable Curry & Rice
Thur - Buddha Bowl
Fri - Veggie Pizza
Sat - Vegetable Pastry Bake
Sun - Roast Veg / Roast Dinner

Then I’ll probably continue to have Huel for breakfast and lunch Mon-Friday and then other healthy breakfast meals like oats, fruit and tofu scramble at the weekends.

I’m working out Mon-Friday first thing in the morning. I’m doing 20 mins HIIT running, followed by 20 min break and breakfast and then 20 min weight training.

I may have ditched the Huel challenge but if I can stick to that then I’d consider myself to be a well functioning adult haha

12 days now on 100% doing ok, hope all are well…

Just going to chime in here:

Going a month on 100% Huel is a fun challenge. Sort of like getting a good hitting streak going in baseball. But not sticking with it is not failure. Even @Julian and @JamesCollier aren’t 100%.

Going 100% anything (Huel, vegetarian, twinkles, etc) is a lofty, almost unobtainable goal. It should be pursued in fun. Breaking the streak because you had vegetable and tofu stir fry, or a burger, is fine. It means the streak is over. But it isn’t a failure.

I look at this thread not as a challenge to fail. I view it as a contest, to see who holds out the longest. So people, check in. Anybody else besides @andy1 still in?

I just stumbled across this thread now. I had actually gone on a 100% diet of Huel and a competitors products about a week before this started. I stayed on that diet for a period of two weeks (that was my plan from the beginning).

I experienced no problems whatsoever, apart from losing the will to eat. I literally forgot to have a few meals at one point and woke up feeling very unwell and hungry. Once I learned to make absolutely certain I consumed my food for the day, everything went brilliantly.

I usually eat out for every single meal, so this required quite a change to my normal routine, and I did end up having two regular meals, just because I was in a couple of restaurants where it was a bit awkward to sit there just drinking a water.

I’m now doing around two out of three meals with Huel (or competitors products) and am currently intending to keep that up long term.

I experienced absolutely zero stomach problems on switching my diet, but I did suffer from constipation on going back to normal food. The constipation has gone away now that I’m back to two out of three meals being powdered (or sometimes food bars).

I forgot to mention that I was losing around 750 g per week whilst on my powdered food diet.

Also, I mentioned consuming a competitors product too, but Huel comprised around 90% of my food intake.

At least you tired, I failed by not even starting. I am going to try a week of 2 huel one lean dinner. Will keep you posted but actually hearing everyones stories of getting up and trying again has made me do the same. Failure is only failure if you don’t try again!
