Overeaters Anonymous?

[Double post so here’s some great self care infographics some lovely OA fellows shared today]

Thanks @Phil_C! I think I’m going to start trying that; any advice for what to do when the urge to keep eating after 8pm hits? Even though logically I know I have plenty of extra fat, I somehow have this “fear of starving” if I’m not constantly shoving food into my mouth or if I “undereat” because it’s a smaller window of time :woman_facepalming:

And the habit is so ingrained for years to eat right up til bedtime! Any suggestions welcome, and I’d love to hear your experience with IF.

Thanks Wendy, I’ll definitely try this!

its not easy to begin with for sure - but if you can get through the first few days doing it you will find your body starts getting used to it. you can have water, black tea/coffee etc at any time so just make yourself a cuppa and see how it goes. it sounds like maybe the best bet for you would be to break your calories down into more frequent snacks/light meals through the day to begin with also to get over that hurdle.

Huel of course. I had the urge to keep eating after but I’m gonna try to distract myself. If I’d just literally eaten a 400kcal meal, I can’t possibly be biologically hungry right now! I’m not going to “starve”, as much as my binge brain would have me think.

Dinner Huel was H&S w extra veg—is the mac and cheese alone really nutritionally complete?? Feels weird without a side of veg

  • I did the hot water thing they wrote on the bag to cook it but the pasta was still undercooked
  • So I microwaved it for 2x 1.5min and it seemed to be better. Any tips seasoned Huel experts?

Huel lunch to start the day! I noticed that it tasted so much sweeter when I stopped eating earlier yesterday and was actually decently hungry instead of constantly being full. It’d be day 3 of IF and I hope I can do it!

Huel so yummy I always get sad when I hit the bottom of the shaker 🥲
Reminds me of that Oliver Twist meme. Also my housemate caught COVID and I may have to self isolate, but I feel such an odd comfort in the security of my Huel stash. Huel’s perfect for surviving in underground bunkers lol.

New day new Huel! This was mint, I like the salted caramel more though.
Always have the urge to keep eating after finishing the Huel, but mentally I can rest assured that I AM getting nutrients in.

Did surprisingly well for 5 days without bingeing (I can’t remember the last time) but lapsed a bit.

Ah well, onwards and upwards, this Huel is a symbol of not giving up and my commitment to keep trying to fuel my body with nutrients. It’s in a way psychologically comforting to have such an easy balanced meal on the ready at all times even when I’m too much of a wreck to spend much time in the kitchen. Heck, no kitchen necessary!

Cheers!

Huel for dinner today! Have been struggling with the food and overeating especially as Christmas rolls around, but I’m doubling down on OA and it’s surprisingly really helped.

My sponsor suggested me to have a sugar-free single course meal with actual nutrients (because I’d been eating random crackers and chips before), so I figured Huel it is!! Feels good to finally get some proper nutrients in.

I am wondering whether there are supplements that help. Chromium? Healthy oils, especially omega 3?
Other ideas?

Hope everyone’s has a lovely Christmas! Was about to go off on a complete holiday bender, but decided it doesn’t need to be all or nothing, so here’s me making an effort to get back to proper meals & nutrition. I might not get it perfect, but I’m going to keep trying. One nutritious meal is one more than I would’ve had otherwise!

Here’s some Mint Chocolate Huel. Sorry for the absolutely boring thread—I’ve come to realise daily Huels don’t necessarily make for the most exciting food porn :joy:

That’s it @ooboo, it absolutely doesn’t need to be all or nothing! Merry Christmas to you too!

Do you mean this meme?

New day new Huel, this was a mix of Mint Choc and Choc Huel black.

Does anyone prefer the black version? If yes, why? I’m trying to figure out the difference.

Lmaooo I can’t believe you just— :skull::skull:

You’re a stand up guy Tim, A+ memes and customer engagement + encouragement  Hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas too!

New day new Huel  I wonder when the Huel team is gonna get sick of my daily Huels…not my fault it looks the same!

Today I tried Huel Chocolate (Black) for the first time, the 90g serving. YOU GUYS ITS ACTUALLY SO GOOD omg I enjoyed it so much.

My rating is now:

  1. Salted Caramel (W)
  2. Chocolate (B)
  3. Mint Choc (W)

Still have yet to try the rest though, and can’t keep up with all the different versions haha.

  • One thing I really enjoy about Huel is that it lets me move on with life and not be chained to my desk grazing constantly. Even though at the end of every Huel I still feel the urge to want to continue eating, if I manage to tear myself away I find that I can actually get so many chores done!
  • Oddly enough, it’s (and OA which helps me in the social support aspect to keep trying to come back to Huel and working towards health) is giving me my life back.

First Huel of the year!!

YALL SERIOUSLY Huel Black chocolate tastes like a chocolate milkshake (to me), I felt so happy eating it I could cry 🥲

Something I’m gonna try this new year today is to “work the steps” in OA, one of them (Step 4) is listing down the grudges, resentment, fears we still hold from the past. It’s such a daunting step, but I can definitely see how it can be a useful exercise for anyone to achieve emotional and personal growth, really!

Sometimes I think “I wish I spent those 400 Huel calories on something that I could graze on and lasted longer instead” but I know now that I spend time on food to avoid everything else in my life and dealing with difficult emotions.

So yes. I ate my Huel in like 10 minutes, which makes me slightly annoyed because now I have all this time where I have to (or “get to”, since i’m trying to reframe my thoughts) sit with and work though my emotions and past baggage. I just had 400 nutritious calories, I don’t need more right now. And that’s a blessing…even if it’s very disguised.

Happy New Year everyone!! :tada:

Happy New Year to you ooboo!

Good luck with Step 4, that sounds like a hill to climb. But the higher we go the more potential energy we gain, right? I think that’s proven science!

2nd Huel of 2022!

I’m going to try Vanilla Black Huel tomorrow, let’s see how that goes. I can’t keep up with all the flavours!! What are you guys’ favourites?

  • Had a good 3+h being satiated after this Huel and actually got started on Step 4 since Huel freed up so much time I basically was forced to and had no excuses…I’m surprised by how many resentments I still hold, it goes way back to childhood! Ah well. It’s probably a necessary step to rip the band-aid off to start living a fuller more fulfilling life free from past baggage.
  • Tbh I could go longer without eating but I have some produce that’s expiring so Imma eat that.
