RTD Huel Black - Germany vs United Kingdom

When I order Huel Black Chocolate direct the bottles are labelled ‘Made in Germany’ when I buy the product in a UK supermarket the bottles are labelled ‘Made in United Kingdom’ (last order 60 bottles)

I do not care where the product is made as long as the product is the same. The constancy of the UK bottles is much thicker and also the bottles seem to be fuller (firm when squeezed) also hisses when opened.

Is it a lottery that orders placed online in the UK will get German / UK versions of RTD chocolate Black?

Is the consistency difference an intentional one?

Thanks

I want to make sure I’m getting the right information out to you. I’m 99.9% certain that the nutritional information will be the same, but when it comes to taste profiles and why they are made in different places, I want to make sure the right information is coming across to you. Hold the phone as soon as I’ve got it I’ll come back to you.

I made a comment the other day to my partner, that the Huel Black seems to change significantly between batches. I wonder if that’s them occasionally delivering UK made vs German made Huel?

The one I ate 5 mins ago says “Hergestellt in Germany”, ie: “Made in Germany”. It tasted great

I’ve done some digging and spoken to some teams to get an answer for you. We haven’t changed manufacturers. Our RTD is produced in both the UK and Germany. Usually, UK-made bottles go to UK retail and German-made stock goes to online orders, but that’s not a strict rule, so it can vary depending on logistics.

The recipe is identical across both sites, so the product is nutritionally identical. That said, you might notice a small difference in texture, that’s not intentional, it’s just down to slight variations in the equipment and processing methods at each site.

The bottles should all be filled the same. The firmer feel and the hiss when you open them are just from the nitrogen flushing process, which keeps the product fresh, totally normal and nothing to worry about.

Hello @Mark_Huel thank you for looking into this. This was not a criticism, rather an observation and raised out of curiosity. I assumed the nutritional profile was the same, but I do find the viscosity of the two versions is very different.

I prefer the thinner German version, it does not stick to the throat like the UK version. The German version never hisses so perhaps a difference in the nitrogen flushing process?

As I order online to get the best price I am happy to hear the German version will be what arrives in future
