Say HELLO to new Complete Nutrition Bars

I am just eating a caramel one on the train home after a sweaty hardcore gig in Glasgow. It actually didn’t melt in my jacket pocket despite it being warm inside the venue. I think I actually prefer it to the peanut one, but a close call. I think the coconut taste is even more prominent though. Its quite soft and chewy and far removed from previous iterations. I can see why it will appeal to those who like misfits bars and I think it is actually a better taste and texture than them. Nothing at all like previous Huel bars though

Yeah I had one later last night too and thought the same although prefer the peanut one. No explosive repercussions this morning but I think 2 is my daily tipping point as the second one made its presence in my stomach known quite audibly pretty quickly.

I expected to like the peanut one more…will see what I think after a few more of each. Its not something I would eat every day. And certainly not two in a day. Probably only 1 or 2 a week really.

I ordered two singles with my subscription. Pow pow scoffed em both within minutes. They’re alright. I won’t order any more, but they could be an impulse buy if I ever see them in a shop.

My guts handled them with no complaints, but this is child’s play to them.

A lot of the newer Huel products would sit well in supermarkets. The bars, the vitamin drink, the new not poodles. The old style bars were in Sainsbury’s but didn’t seem to last long and Sainsbury’s seem to stock a lot of those things now. Every time I venture in there seems to be a new range. Within the past few months more of these things have been getting into Morrisons too.

Making their products readily available to the masses rather than a niche seems to be a direction I think Huel is possibly heading in.

Next year Huel will have been in existence for a decade and still a lot of people don’t know it!!!

Funnily enough I was explaining it to a couple of posh old Scottish ladies a couple of days ago. They had wandered into my office to enquire if I could make use of a filing cabinet they had, and other office stuff and I was drinking a shake. One of them looked like she was gonna puke as I explained it.

Its like that shit porridge you lot eat…but cold

This sounds right. From a specialist product for enthusiasts who buy in bulk to a wide range of mass-market products for the average consumer.

It’d fit with the change in the discount system too.

Yup it’s obvious from the rtd availability, vitamin drink (ridiculous imo), noodle pots. There is a strategic move into retail.
Direction of travel is not difficult to discern,
Powders will remain for a while…

I don’t imagine that the posters will die but I’m less upset by the moves to get on supermarket shelves than many here seem to be and if the products that I want are killed off then I’ll just eat something else.
If the single serve items sell well then perhaps the powder will be stocked in shops too.

I’m just doom-mongering lol.
The way companies grow from good intentions into money farms for investors does that to me…

Don’t see why that’s not possible or likely. Holland and Barrett already sell other brands. Sainsbury’s and Morrisons have quite a few different protein powders and other stuff like that so at some point will give complete meals a go.

Nah, come the glorious revolution Huel will be nationalised. The newly formed government Department of Nutrition & Wellbeing will be staffed and run by Huel’s ex-employees and we’ll get our powders delivered daily by milkfloat.

That’s a sad but accurate reflection. It really bums me out when I see small companies selling out to bigger companies. I’ve supported a lot of grass roots vegan companies that have done that…but that’s capitalism for ya. Dirty fingers in dirty pies

Makes perfect sense, I don’t get why this is an issue - “making Huel more available and more popular” … oh no?

Totally disagree. Junk food isn’t supposed to look like healthy food, because that tricks people into making bad decisions. Healthy food should absolutely look like junk food, because then it feels like eating junk, but it’s good for me, so win-win!

Are these new ones certified Kosher?

Nothing on the packaging - they are made in a different plant to the previous bars, so I’m guessing maybe not yet.

Waitrose sells the RTD, which is great because if your a partner/employee of the supermarkets, you get a decent staff discount on top of the retail price.
