Urgh! The Taste!

Hi,
I am sitting here and trying to drink my first cup of huel…
And I am horrified. I bought the vanilla eidition some days ago, and it tastes sooo horrible.

What can I do?
It doesnt taste any natural to me… dont want to throw it all away.

Try leaving it in the fridge for 4 hours, or preferably over night, it makes the taste better. Also try blending with fruit

So I mix it and fridge it?
How do i put fruit in it? i just shake it.

You’re unlikely to be able to change the taste, texture maybe.

Sounds bad but easiest way is just to suck it up and drink it. You’ll get used to it quickly. The flavour powders are fantastic. I make mine super cold and chill it, basically an extremely tasty thick milkshake.

I find using a blender REALLY helps with the flavour also mix it up a bit I found using half coconut water and half ice cold water mixed with some blueberries then whizzed in the blender and left overnight in the fridge make a great drink

As has already been mentioned, stick with it and you’ll quickly get used to it. It’s an acquired taste, but you will acquire it for sure.

That said… For me, it’s the sucralose sweetness that I found a little unpleasant to begin with. I find that adding certain unsweetened flavours improves it. A couple of tea-spoons of Green & Black’s organic cocoa powder makes it a little thicker and reduces the sweetness considerably. Slightly salty flavours also offset the sweetness a bit - peanut butter, salted caramel flavouring for baking, things like that. You don’t need to add a lot. Experiment and see what works for you.

Or you know, buy Unsweetened…

I can’t drink it with just water (I also use vanilla huel). I add 3 teaspoons of decaff coffee and some milk. Here’s what I do

  1. Add 400ml tap water to shaker
  2. Add 3 scoops Huel
  3. Add Teaspoons of coffee (I use three but might be too much)
  4. Put lid on and shake shake shake
  5. Open top and pour in 200ml of milk (I use ordinary semi skimmed milk).
  6. Reshake and fridge it for an 2 or more hours

I have this three times a day and so far only tasted horrible once when I didn’t have time to fridge it.

Hope this helps.

Add water, add some milk, add a fruit and blend. Takes minutes, avoid getting bored by the taste, ramps from gross to delicious.
Adding milk and fruits, the bitterness actually becomes a pleasant flavour layer.
