Just received a full order of Black Edition v1.1 minus the tea shirt, at a Blessing Box. While waiting for anyone to put food into box, watched a man put a paper grocery bag full of something, on ground. Found three bags, two opened but full, coffee, bottle, flavor packets. What is USA cost, over $100?
That’s a lot of money to throw away, something seriously wrong with product from his point of view.
Maltodextrin makes me dizzy, maybe that was it. He was older, like me, maybe prediabetic, sad American food.
Will know in a few days taking it whether I was blessed or the other.
Just a note.
PS Another way to make powdered food easier to get down is to add a favorite flavored extract.
Me, Peppermint.
But all the better for you! People stop using Huel for all sorts of reason, not necessarily something wrong with the product. We try to help people understand that it’s not a one size fits all, that you can mix it up different, add flavours, chill it, blend it and everything else. But as much as we try that message doesn’t always get through.
This is doubtful, the total cumulative amount of maltodextrin is less than 1% of Huel, where maltodextrin has been used, the amount is minimal and for the optimum functional purpose. For example, some of the ingredients in Huel, like vitamin B12, may contain some maltodextrin as one of the carriers.
I quite liked the chocolate flavour! A week after I got it Huel sent out an email to say they’re making it sweeter, which is a bit of shame. The chocolate I tried was quite bitter, like real chocolate, not like the milk chocolate stuff you buy in shops (e.g. dairymilk) that have more sugar and milk in than cocoa, so not real chocolate.
I like berry :), And banana. But coffee is mu favourite
I make the black chocolate up for my son with 20g Cadbury’s drinking chocolate,1/2 water and 1/2 u/s almond milk
I’ve tried chocolate in the classic huel edition and is just amazing it tastes like real chocolate kind of, however in the black edition it doesn’t taste like chocolate at all, I don’t know what is it but not chocolate definitely
I have received my first order today and must say I am very upset. The chocolate tastes.so dreadful it has made me feel physically sick. I stupidly ordered two bags of it.
Sorry to hear that, we’re all different and have different preferences, many love the Chocolate flavours. What sort of chocolate flavour would you like? Any drinks you’ve tried which you really like?
Regarding your order, do get in touch with the customer experience team on team@huel.com, I’m sure they will help you out in some way
Thanks. I normally like dark chocolate and had read reviews before I ordered, so felt it would be okay because I don’t like overly sweet things, but it is not pleasant at all. Maybe I should have gone for the hot & savoury options instead as they seem to have good reviews.
Unfortunately people’s tastes are all different. Some people like certain flavours and hate others. I’m not keen on berry powder Huel but the Berry RTD is my favourite. My favourite white powder is vanilla but my least favourite rtd is vanilla. Salted caramel is best black. Other people totally disagree.
I added chocolate sauce to my chocolate black shakes because I did not like the taste of the chocolate, and the chocolate flav drops were out of stock at the time. I don’t use Huel to control my calories, just for convenience so the extra calories didn’t bother me.
Adding cocoa might help with the flavour for you.
I know this is an old post but I am glad I am not the only
they are both flavoured by the same thing - cocoa - in fact BE has a little more than v3. I’m guessing it’s the different sweetening method thats not sitting well with you in BE. you can easily mellow out the stevia bitterness yourself with lots of different methods.
why do you like it. I see here people talking about perhaps not liking it as they are expecting “dairy milk” type chocolate. I don’t like dairy milk/galaxy etc bars but like really bitter chocolate so wondering if this chocolate is bitter and more like cacao and in fact I might be the minority that likes it. I have the chocolate protein drink and I like that although would prefer it less sweet.
that’s a shame as I’m a dark/bitter chocolate person and was hoping if I tried it I might like it but maybe not seeing your post. How would you describe it? I quite like the Huel protein in chocolate but in black edition have only tried vanilla and strawberries and cream so far.
