Finally got around to trying this. Goes straight to the top of my favourite list for H&S flavours, although it gets better if seasoned with salt and pepper.
Well done all involved in making this one.

I was very skeptical about a Mac and cheeze huel, but it literally tastes like macaroni cheese except better. To know itās got all the nutritional value of the regular huel is mind boggling. This is sorcery of the highest degree.
I honestly donāt know how the new product development team do it, they are literally wizards. I hope they come as that for our HQ Halloween day.
Thank you so much Darren, Iāll be sure to pass this on! You tweak it however you like, love a bit of pepper on mine too!
Iād be interested to know othersā thoughts and experiences with āMac & Cheezeā (hot and savoury range). I tried it this morning - the taste was bland and floury - like undercooked bĆ©chamel sauce, while the advised water quantity was way off. I added more hot water, a vegetable stock cube, and chilli flakes to bump up the flavour profile. That helped but I couldnāt get rid of the floury, undercooked taste. I was so looking forward to this but it has been a real disappointment. Meh!
Hey Phil, gutted to hear you arenāt a fan of Mac & Cheeze. The good thing is weāre now offering so many different Hot & Savoury flavours that Iām sure there will be something you like. Have you tried any of the others?
I would definitely tweak and change the amount of water you use to suit yourself. Start with 5 mins (lid on, very important) and if itās still too al dente then leave it a little longer, 10 minutes other Hueligans have said is great! Hope you give it another go and find how it works for you!
Hi Tim - yeah, I also have three other flavours: Madras (good), Mexican Chilli (not bad), Sweet & Sour (untried). Iāll be giving Mac & Cheeze another go for sure - I have a whole bag to get through!
Bought some with my last order - wish I didnāt. Couldnāt finish the pot. Taste made me gag and I still felt sick afterwardsā¦I donāt use these words lightly but I found it really disgusting Iām sorry to say. That it cost Ā£18 is the worst partā¦wish you did pot noodle type things with a single serving so we can try before investing so much.
*I did try it with different amounts of water - fill line first, then added more water up to the fill line again later, but it didnāt improve it for me. Sorry.
I also got a packet of Mac and cheese with my latest order. I had been very reluctant to buy it as due to personal tastes I have not liked any of the hot and savourys. I dug out my black beaker and followed the microwave instructions but when I checked it had boiled over. I thought off to a bad start here. Once I had cleared up the mess and added more water I was ready to go. I added some black pepper and Dijon mustard as I normally do when eating macaroni. Guess what I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was also surprised at how filling it was. Well done Huel.
Have you tried an additional 2 minutes in the microwave? I found that made a difference to the taste, as well as the texture. It did taste undercooked; I decided maybe it WAS undercooked.
I have had to sieve out the tomato flakes (and then re-add the macaroni) as my stoma was not coping with the tomato pieces
So I have stopped the subscription at the moment! The ground linseeds are better for me, anyhow! I have had a filling meal of it, anyway.
Ah Iām so sorry to hear this. Hopefully there are some other flavours of Hot & Savoury you like? We know that not everyone is going to like every flavour we release, but sorry the Mac & Cheeze was a disappointment.
I am honestly already excited about mine for lunch! Microwave experience sounds traumatic, hopefully the next time will be/was better!
This is good to hear though, I remember you saying that the whole flaxseed werenāt great for you. At least the tomato pieces are big enough to pick out.
Mac and Cheeze is definitely my favorite H&S Huel. Iām a real mac and cheese junkie so was super excited to give this a try. Itās really nice for a vegan mac and cheese, but obviously not as good as a proper cheesy homemade one. I need to try adding hot sauce and other things to it to boost the flavour.
For a 10-15min meal (with preparation), itās hard to beat!
Things that can alter the taste IMO is the amount of water and quality (I only use distilled water so very neutral non-metallic taste), amount of water, ~10min instead of 5-6, some spices and other additions of your choice. Also like all the other H&S, remember to shake the bag for a while before ādigging inā.
Also tried the mexican chili and that was not bad at all but I think theres too much flax seeds (for me atleast) as it passes through me like a bomb!
Finally tried mac and cheeze yesterday. Need tips on what to do differently for my second attempt because my first attempt felt a bit weird. It was as if the mac had just been smeared in butter (like the way one might enthusiastically put nutella on toast) and it was a bit crispy/crunchy too.
My method was 2 scoops of mac and cheeze, two scoops of boiling water, slam a plate over the top, āAlexa! Set a timer for five minutes!ā and by the time Iād finished eating it, it was starting to go cold.
Any suggestions for what to do differently next time? It definitely has potential but Iād like it to be as yummy as possible. My favourites so far are the madras and korma and I prefer them more like a thicker risotto than a soup.
Rae
two scoops of mac, top up with boiling water to the line on the inside of the Huel H&S pot, stir until mixed, lid on and leave for 10 mins. Re stir, top up to get correct consistency and then eat.
Hope this helps.
I have a rather short lunch, so I tried an alternative prep method for Mac&Cheeze:
the instructions on the package:
Prefer to microwave? Add 2x scoops (102 g) and 250 ml cold water to a heat-resistant container.
Cover loosely, microwave on full power for 2 mins. Stir, re-cover loosely and microwave for 1 min.
Stand for 5 min and enjoy! Caution: Hot contents! Do not shake.
what I did:
the evening before: Add 102 g of Mac&Cheese and 250 ml water to a heat-resistant container. Stir well. Put the lid on, put it in the fridge and let it sit overnight.
Bring to work, and put in the work fridge. When itās lunch time, open the lid and let it cover the container loosely, microwave on full power for 2 mins. Stir, add more water if necessary, re-cover loosely and microwave for 1 min. Stir again, if necessary. Ready to eat!
Worked perfectly, and the pasta was definitely not ā(uncooked) crunchyā.
(If you prefer your pasta al dente, this method is probably not for you.)
I had my first Mac & Cheese for lunch yesterday and Iām incredibly impressed.
Of all the vegan M&C options Iāve had, there have been some great ones, but this is by far the most typical mac and cheese-esque one out there.
Iām not able to prepare food at the moment, but my fiancee made it as per instructions, but from the recommendations on here, left it for 10 minutes before I ate it. The sauce mix and consistency was bang on. The only thing Iād say is there was just a couple of bits of pasta that could have done with a little bit more water, but thatās then just a matter of adding a bit more water before mixing and leaving next time.
It is amazing the ease and convenience of foods like this, and mind blowing that I was able to eat a pile of mac and cheese, and it was nutritious! Highly recommend it!
Yeah, I canāt get over the fact that itās healthy.
Ah thatās interesting, taking the theory of making Huel the night before and applying to Mac & Cheeze. Obviously not the most convenient in some ways, but probably slightly more convenient when you come around to eating it. Was it cold water you used the night before?
So pleased you like the Mac & Cheeze! Did you stir part-way through? I that might help with the odd al dente bits after 10-mins. Give it top up of water too if itās looking a bit thick too.
Iāve got the Sweet & Sour and the Mac & Cheese pouches, and I have to say how much I LOVE the Mac & Cheese one. It doesnāt taste very healthy because it tastes so good!
Lukewarm-cold:ish tap water, stir, then directly into the fridge. No heating up the evening before.
Figured it would be best nutrition-wise to not heat it āmore than necessaryā.
Just make sure you use a (microwave safe) liquid-tight container for transport.
