Not at all to me. Pumpkin spice is my least favourite of all I bought a full pouch of. Gingerbread on the other hand is definitely in the top 3, if not top 1.
@Flamme well I’m well known to have controversial taste buds!
Pumpkin spice is one of my favourites
I’ve got an unopened bag I was saving. Happy to sell it to you in January once everyone has run out. £50 feels fair
Thanks mate but you’ve slightly overestimated how much I like it.
We’ll see lol
taking no chances - placed a one off order for another 3 bags of Gingerbread and 2 Apple
Same. Just ordered a load of gingerbread, by far my fav. What’s the deal with the berry and strawberry flavours though? It’s like a mouth full of chemicals…eugh. I had the same reaction to vanilla pre mix as well
Gingerbread plus cacao powder works really well in UU/Original
(What am I going to do when I run out of Original?? I need it for my flavour boosts!)
I’m going to try peanut butter today.
Following everyone’s feedback that it was too subtle a flavour, I’ve added 2 sachets: so 6g to 100g powder (50:50 UU:Original)
PEANUT BUTTER
I don’t know what you’re all on about - peanut butter boost is really nice. Delicious in fact.
Maybe it just needed two sachets (like I did)
Maybe it works best in UU/Original and not vanilla (very likely)
Anyway, I’m buying it. It’s very tasty and almost savoury so makes a nice change.
buy some more? its still available - seems like only the mint choc 2.3 has run out.
Thank dog for salted caramel fb. I’m firmly back on the bandwagon
Cara boost cara boost on the bandwago as Farrokh Bulsara would say.
Indeed.
Dog damn the 10 character mimimum.
If anyone is looking to do something different with the berry flavour boost, I was craving a flavoured drink the other day and had no squash or juice, so I mixed a teaspoon of berry FB in half a pint of water and the result was yummy! not super sweet so you could add a sweetener but I enjoyed it. It also came out in a lurid pink which was enjoyable to drink.
OK – so worked my way through the whole flavour boost sample pack and here are my thoughts:
Salted Caramel – nice taste and quite natural without the expected cloying sweetness. No sense of the Stevia bitterness while drinking but some afterwards. Would use again.
Chocolate – good facsimile of using sweetened cocoa powder in Huel, but with less calories. No noticeable bitterness during or after drinking. Quite enjoyable.
Banana – quite like this but has to be used in moderation as its quite pungent. Not as tasty as using frozen banana but more convenient. No noticeable bitterness during or after drinking.
Apple & Cinnamon – already used regularly and liked. Can be a little synthetic if over used but I found that this and any stevia aftertaste is countered by adding a splash of prune juice.
Peanut Butter – Pleasant enough taste and quite natural – I would use PB2 as a preference though as it has a stronger peanut taste. No noticeable bitterness during or after drinking.
Strawberry – I found this deeply unpleasant. Very artificial taste and noticeable stevia aftertaste. Pungent smelling powder lead to my apartment smelling like I had a strawberry scented Magic Tree hanging in there for a couple of hours.
Mint Chocolate – not unpleasant, but to me had more of a mint fondant taste (like an After Eight) rather than a chocolate flavoured with natural mint. No bitterness while drinking but quite noticeable one afterwards.
Pumpkin Spice – possibly my new favourite flavour boost running neck and neck with Gingerbread. Very natural taste with distinct pumpkin flavour coming through. No noticeable bitterness while drinking but a slight aftertaste when finished.
Mocha – inoffensive but not great either. Slightly fake ‘soapy’ aftertaste. Drinkable but wouldn’t use it again. No real stevia bitterness though. Would simply add espresso to a chocolate flavour instead.
Berry – not really like the taste of Berry RTD – definitely a more artificial taste. Not as unpleasant as Strawberry, but not one I would choose to have again. Definitely would prefer using frozen berries or something like Acai powder. No noticeable bitterness while drinking but a slight aftertaste when finished.
Thanks for that. I just got my FB pack so it will be interesting to compare.
What base powder were you using?
Sorry - I should have said - a 50/50 split of UU and Vanilla, all drunk after blending and a short (10 minute) standing.
Hey Phil,
Why do you rate them on bitterness? I’ve never had one that was bitter. Though the strawberry is a quite artificial.
when I say that I mean the bitter after taste you sometimes get with Stevia - not the flavours themselves.
Loving this extensive review of what you think Phil!
I’m not sure what the benchmark was for Mint Chocolate with the Huel team, but that feels like a decent benchmark. Do many people expect an actual peppermint leaf flavour with Mint-Chocolate flavoured stuff?
What do the rest of you think about each flavour boost?
