New volume discount plan - 8% price rise

I think that seems unlikely to me. I started this thread and I’m just a long-term full-time user of Huel who’s a little disappointed.

If the company is suspicious they are very welcome to look up my customer account which will show I’ve spent over £9000 on Huel so far.

It’s getting impossible to tell now but I think in this case it’s probably not that as it was prompted by an email sent to customers.

To clarify, I think the poster who started the thread, in my opinion, has a valid point nothing about the email suggested anyone would get like an 8% price rise, so the frustration is understandable and this is the right platform to address it.

However, the latter posters and discussion seemed to just accept that this is a stealth price increase. Given that Huel has explained that the “vast majority” of their customers buy in a manner in which this change is a benefit, it is pure nonsense for people to respond to that with mini-lectures on how to communicate price rises to customers who, by and large, aren’t getting a price rise.

It comes across to me as arrogance to presume that those who bulk buy one product have a monopoly on loyalty.

Thank you

Never thought you weren’t genuine.

But this forum has a long and rich history of perfectly reasonable posts being taken down an insane path by users - often newly-joined and with low post counts - taking arguments to the extreme, making strange and unfounded allegations (“Huel granola made my hamster’s wife’s uncle’s dog pregnant”), and reacting with insane levels of anger if anyone dares suggest they’re not who they say they are :face_with_monocle:

Were you a headline writer for the Sunday Sport?

No. But I have worked as a waitress in a cocktail bar…

I am happy to be able to get a simpler discount across multiple product categories. But I am also disappointed that I can no longer buy in bigger bulk to bring the unit cost down more. And I agree that the communication from Huel hasn’t been frank about the fact that it’s bad news for bigger users. Feels like talking to a politician.

I’m probably in a minority of one but I was ok about working it out for myself.

I’ve been getting rtd to help with weight loss and would pay £228 for 8 boxes. It would now be £292 and that’s a bit too much for me now so I’ll be unfortunately stopping the bulk buys, might get one now and then in sainsburys though.

If they would’ve been honest about the price increasing for large orders I might have considered budgeting for it and staying, but i have 3-4 bottles a day with a small meal and paying over 12 quid a day for it isn’t worth it anymore…

Ouch. That’s rough.

I presume you aren’t keen on the powder shakes then?

Ehh tbh its more so cause its easier to motivate myself to have a healthier option, i find the powder a bit of a faff sometimes. Also the rtd is a lot easier to drink or take out as it can be stored at room temperature.

You are being too paranoid and cynical.

Ouch… My last order for Black edition powder chocolate flavour and Strawberry flavour last month was £63.34 . For the same order it is now £71.30.
That’s a big jump I’m going to have to check other brands prices now it’s getting a bit expensive for me good old Huel.

That doesn’t sound right. For BE all orders up to and including 6 bags should be cheaper now. 7 and upwards is more expensive.

Here it is, today and the other from last month

You don’t get the discount until you spend £85, Ian. It’d be worth switching to a 3 or 4-bag order and getting it less frequently.

edit: Ian make it a subscription. You’re just pissing money away mate. If you swap from one-time and 2 bags, to subscription and 4 bags, the bags are £10 cheaper.

David speaks true. 2 bags on sub is £57 and hasn’t increased under the new discounts. 4 bags has reduced from £108 to £102.60.

I have a monthly cut off of what I’m willing to spent on Huel. And unfortunately, once that’s hit, I will simply order less.

If it gets to the point where I’m not able to get enough per month for a reasonable cost, I will go to an alternative. Even if it means having to supplement it with something else, it can be done. No product is immune.

I think they need more loyalty structure for bigger orders and repeat orders.

That’s literally just been taken away, so I can’t see that happening.

Why?

I know of no supermarket or other retail food supplier who sell groceries with complex bulk-purchasing structures.

What might suit your needs is unlikely to benefit the vast majority of people who just want to buy food a week or a month at a time with a clear pricing structure.

Simpler is better here
