Sample pouch and advice needed :)

Hi @piggles93

In respect of losing weight, it is preferential to eat small portions of food regularly rather than nothing at all. The advantage of this is it keeps the metabolism boosted which helps burn fat and gives your more energy so you can be active and burn fat. In the short term, you may be hungrier, but if you can control this, you’ll be successful.

Huel - just 2 scoops per serving - will certainly be helpful in your situation.

@JamesCollier ok cool, thankyou! :smile:
i prefer mine not as thick as others so when i have it runny-ish, this wont affect the impact this has on my energy intake from huel will it?

No, thickness is purely down to preference. You could go 10:1 with water, and apart from being VERY runny, it’ll be just as healthy as 5:1 or 4:1 etc. Only thing to watch is the fluid intake, at thicker mixes you take in less water, so will need to compensate, but I doubt that will be an issue with you wanting it runny!

@Omc id go to the dr but i think id sound like an idiot as there are registered eating disorders and what i have or my habits, dont fall under them catorgories :confused:
Nonsense. If you feel you need to go to the docs over it, then go. At the very least the doc can reassure you what you are doing is fine, or suggest some help if it’s not. Just because something doesnt fall under a set grouping doesnt mean you can’t be worried about it.

i do plan on cutting out energy drinks but atm i need them haha! im a university student and often have late nights doing course work so its keeping me going for now lol.
I found that with Huel I didn’t want any energy drinks, or coffee as it was providing all the natural energy I needed. Energy drinks don’t actually provide much stimulant long term. They provide a massive boost to energy, then your body produces a counter in the form of insulin and then you feel very tired again afterwards, moreso than you did before drinking them. You’re then in a postion where you need another to keep going…
Try a week on Huel, like @JamesCollier said, small drinks more often. Start the day with a 2 scoop Huel, then when finished, mix up another batch right away. Store in the fridge and keep a small glass next to you to sip on throughout the morning. This way you’re getting constant supply, which should stop the “hunger pains” as your stomache will always have something to work on. The extra scoops will be an extra 350 calories, but each red bull (250ml)is roughly 112 calories ( and 27g of sugar). But with a 2+2 for morning, 2+2 for afternoon, you’ll still only be on 1400 calories. Only difference is with Huel it’s healthy, with all the minerals you need, and no corresponding sugar coma!

Regardless of whether your diet is technically an “eating disorder”, pain when eating isn’t normal and would prompt a trip to the GP if it’s ongoing and not a one-off thing, plus probably isn’t encouraging you to get the calories you need… but I wouldn’t be surprised if swapping from occasional eating to a steady supply of huel deals with that issue anyway (I’m no expert, I just wouldn’t be surprised).

Not a coffee fan? I’d trust a bit of black coffee or espresso over energy drinks, personally (although removing coffee from my diet has kept my energy levels more regular and higher than with regular cups, but I couldn’t have got through uni without caffeine either so I can’t judge. :blush:

Glad to hear you’re not a complete exercise newbie - I’ve known a few people try to dive straight into marathon exercise sessions, burn themselves out with little to show for it and much time wasted and consequently quit, just worried you were on course for the same! However…

That’s a contradiction, in my mind. I read “tone up” as looking a bit more athletic - not “fat free but looking like a stick insect”, just a good ratio of muscle to fat, and the best way to do that would be to add a bit of muscle (which also helps burn the fat - bonus!). Try doing a bit of weight lifting - you never know, you might like it, and I guarantee you won’t turn into the Incredible Hulk overnight… and if you do, roll with it - you were clearly born to be a hulk, gifted with genetics many would die for. :stuck_out_tongue:
