Natural sugar can still be very bad for you if it’s not delivered via lots of fibre, is in very high amounts, or concentrated or processed. For example, most of the smoothies you see in the shops. But yes it’s not particularly high in this, although tomato powder is obviously going to be quite processed.
If you’re concerned about excess sugar in your diet then you can always measure your Blood Glucose levels. However the average person should not have issues processing sugar.
I’ve just tried the tomato and herb and it’s SO good. I’m really impressed with it.
I attended the launch event but had to leave before samples were given out, so this was my first taste.
It’s akin to a really rich, creamy tomato soup. There’s a nice bite to the mixed grains and added veg so it feels super satisfying to eat. I could happily eat this for any lunch or dinner!
It’s a little thick for me prepared to the recommended water:huel ratio, but that’s easy to adjust.
Really excited to try out the green curry soon
I was one of the fortunate ones to receive my Hot & Savoury this morning.
I went for x2 Thai Green Curry and x1 Tomato & Herb. I am not a huge fan of tomato which is why I doubled up on Thai Green.
I tried Thai Green and the first thing that hit me when I opened the bag was the smell. It smells just like Thai Green curry!
I followed the instructions and found the consistency too runny for me, which spoiled my ability to enjoy the texture.
It is worth noting the cup was also hot to the touch which is not a problem if you hold the cup from the top.
A little disappointed, I decided to try the Tomato & Herb and chose to fill 1cm below the recommended line which produced a much better consistency (photo attached). I thoroughly enjoyed the taste and that is coming from someone who is not a big fan of tomato.
The consistency is very subjective to your personal preferences; however, I would prefer a thicker consistency after 5 minutes and topping up with boiling water instead of adding additional scoops and potentially spoiling the taste.
Overall, I am thoroughly satisfied. You will not be disappointed.
I’m excited about trying the T&H one - less fussed about the TGC one, but I am often surprised by which Huel flavours I end up liking.
@airiartev the whole food ingredients are steamed then blanched then freeze dried.
Order just arrived and I dived straight into the Thai Green Curry pack. The taste is absolutely amazing with a nice amount of heat. The texture is perfect and easily customizable with adjustments to water amounts. Honestly, this is better than what I was expecting and I’m trying sooooo hard not to have another, which would put me over my calorie count for the day.
I’ll try the Tomato Herb one tomorrow but I’m sure it’s going to be another winner.
This is definitely now on my regular rotation and is going to be perfect for the winter months ahead.
Kudos to the team for a job well done

I guessed so! I hope to try it on the next purchase. A little pricey for me as a daily meal but I will try to have a couple always on my cupboard
Thank you so much for the feedback, David! This is so epic,
I didn’t have this control today. I made 2 for some filming toyda (before and after kinda thing), and just scoffed both of 'em.
What’ll they do, arrest me? ![]()
Exactly this. Sugar is sugar, what counts is a 5:1 or better ratio with fibre, because that radically affects how your body absorbs the sugar.
That’s why juice diets are so horrendous, all the sugar stays in the juice whilst the fibre is so often taken out.
Except that not everyone was given the opportunity to attend, I knew nothing about it, so not only do the people who were invited to the event get the perks of the event, they get a discount code as well. The rest of us … well … we obviously don’t matter that much.
That is why it is an exclusive event. For example in terms of my work and interest if I attend a drugs fair or academic fair by personal invite from that company then usually perks are given such as clothing or vouchers for equipment etc. This is designed to offer expenses to those who dedicate their unpaid time to attend. The second effect is the attendees become unofficial influencers of the product.
this is awesome.
a game changer.
at the end of the day meal - perfect.
Huel does it again !

This is pretty extreme and actually quite upsetting, name another brand that interacts and gives more personal service to it’s customers than Huel. I just read on reddit that one of customer service team personally emailed a Hueligan when we launch Unflavoured BE because he knew they loved it. Our team regularly spend hours on the phone to people unable to use the internet helping them place orders. Every birthday we send presents and handwritten notes to a selection of customers. We spend hours and hours every day of the week on our forums chatting and answering questions no other company would answer about their company. We are so so transparent and create products that our customers have asked for (Unflavoured Huel, different cut t-shirts, Huel with no artificial sweeteners, better bars and so so many more).
As I’ve said before we were massively limited who could come to this event. There’s a pandemic and having thousands turning up would have been irresponsible, dangerous and unmanageable. I’m so sorry we couldn’t invite you, and the tens of thousands of other Hueligans. It doesn’t make you less special, it doesn’t mean you matter less. Giving away a bundle of H&S and a discount code to those that we invited and came was the least we could do. They came from all over the country and queued from 7am and if they just got a pouch or two of H&S I think they would have been pretty miffed.
Just so you know, the code has been shared online and unfortunately we’ve now had to delete it, so no one can use it more anyway.
I have to say I have always been very impressed with the Huel teams response to me on social media. Whilst you are a business, and you are in it to make profit, you have always gone the extra mile for customers needs. I can’t think of another company that has developed products so quickly to meet the demands of their customers.
But you cannot make everyone happy at all times. I understand peoples frustration, in an ideal world I would have love to have been invited to the event. I am also one of the people who hasn’t had their H&S delivery yet. I will just have to wait patiently!!
well said @Tim_Huel .
Except that not everyone was given the opportunity to attend, I knew nothing about it, so not only do the people who were invited to the event get the perks of the event, they get a discount code as well. The rest of us … well … we obviously don’t matter that much.
Bit immature don’t you think?
Just had the Thai Green Curry one for the first time and it was so delicious, absolutely loved it!! I was already impressed by the Huel Black powder (and the bars are great as well) as I used 1.0 or 2.0 years ago but wasn’t too keen on them.
I think that if Huel market this the right way this could become a huge one! Maybe they could start selling them as individual pots at crazy prices (kinda like porridge pots or cup noodles) and get them into supermarkets or health shops.
It’s so tasty and flavourful and I just feel so good knowing it’s actually very healthy; tomorrow I’ll try the tomato one, I’m sure it’s just as good. Well done Huel!!
Just ordered 2 of each, and I’m very excited to turn my now redundant kitchen into something exciting now I don’t need to cook at all. Maybe a gateway to another dimension, or just a utility room - who knows.
All I need now is a chilli and lime bar and my world is complete, I will never give up hope for this. Or Huel breadsticks, they would be savoury, and fun to dunk in dips.
My order has just arrived a little while ago. My husband who has never tried any Huel products asked if he could try some. He is working from home due to cv19 and always looking for something other than a sandwich. I heard him on the fone to a colleague telling them he was trying a new Huel product which was in a cup and it was great. Hmm looks like I’ll have to hide my food away. Might have a new convert though.
