And yet you decided to add kelp. Which means you value having kelp in Huel more than you value your customers who have allergies to mustard, molluscs, crustaceans or fish. Is this conclusion correct?
If so, why is this the case, given that v2.3 didn’t have kelp and was nutritionally just fine?
I pushed the boat out and ordered two bags of V3.0, Vanilla and Coffee yesterday. They arrived this afternoon. I have just tried the Vanilla (my usual mix of 100g/400ml water) and find it easy to mix in my shaker, not that I found it hard before, and slightly smoother tasting/mouthfeel than V2.3. I left it to sit for a while at room temp rather than fridge as I don’t enjoy it too cold at this time of year. It tasted a bit watery when first mixed but thickened up slightly on standing as did V2.3. Flavour, I have not had Vanilla premix for a while but this tastes pretty much how I remember it.
How my digestion will cope with the changes remains to be seen but flavour and smoothness gets a thumbs up from me. So far so good
Will try the Coffee flavour tomorrow and report back.
Probiotics are a big thing in Northern-Europe as we are used to eating fermented dairy products which naturally include them. I’ve read a lot of studies that say that probiotics have some health benefits and I take them anyway as a supplement. It just seems that every person is different.
Yes I drink beer, wine and have cheese. I am happy and understand that these comtain probiotics. What I don’t like is to have additional pro biotics included in a meal replacment shake that nutritionally has so far (previous version) been on par with what was my regular diet (which did not contain additional pro biotics).
If you’d eat only Huel then you wouldn’t get any probiotics with v2.3 and that’s a problem. Huel doesn’t give you “additional” probiotics, it gives as much as is needed in a single meal.
Some people eat Huel for 90% of their calories and missing something like probiotics can be quite bad as probiotics have so many benefits.
So far in my normal diet which I eat for tea/supper and at weekends, the only probiotic is alcohol. My ‘regular’ food does not contain probiotics or at least has minimal probiotics. Therefore by this logic I am getting additional probiotics from the Huel V3 if I consume it.
As for the benefits of probiotics, I refer usually to NHS Evidence or NICE guidelines. Within my field this is the best practice for information which states evidence is limited. Ultimatley what ever benefits there are I have a choice and would prefer not to have additional probiotics. That said, I will still use V3 because Huel remains for me the most convenient and adaptable powder prep complete meal.
I usually listen to @D90019 because it makes sense to listen to people who know what they’re talking about. So currently I am a 3.0 sceptic. However! Hard to deny that all reviews on the forum so far have been positive. Sign me up!
Maybe make it like you would with a cup/mug of coffee with boiling hot water it might mix better for you. Either drink it hot or let it cool in the fridge first. Hope this useless reply is of no good to you @Bee
The ridiculous thing is, of course, that there was absolutely no good reason for kelp to be added to v3.0. Potassium iodide did the job just fine in v2.3 and without all the drawbacks of kelp…
I will certainly be using the 3.0 because it’s what is available. I Will then be able to compare it to the current version. I would just much rather not be using pro biotics.
