Why the price of Huel powder is changing with the launch of v3.0

You seem to keep ignoring the question of what actual benefit does kelp bring? The only conclusion I can draw is that there are no benefits, only drawbacks (even if your view may be that these aren’t that significant).

So it seems that the only reason for its inclusion must be, as others have surmised, for marketing purposes. Very disappointing indeed.

Hello Daniel, I am very interested in the improvement of the texture. Does it mean that the mixing process is going to improve also?

Should we expect a faster process and reduced lumps?

There will still be lumps but they will be squround now.

https://www.cedars-sinai.org/blog/tummy-troubles-suffer-ibs.html " Avoid popular kombucha and probiotic products. Dr. Pimentel recommends his patients avoid them. Overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine is the cause of IBS. More bacteria won’t help." https://bio.csmc.edu/view/3817/Mark-Pimentel.aspx

@Patricius I think we are all different when it comes to IBS. Personally I find probiotics enormously helpful. Try not to put too much weight on one article.
Have you tried probiotics yourself to see if it helps or makes your IBS worse?
I’m still unsure about kombucha… bit worried about the yeast. I normally avoid it.
But I’ll wait to try it in v3 before dismissing it.
If it affects me negatively I’ll have to go back to having oats, pea protein and almond porridge with a multi vitamin for breakfast - served me well for years, prior to discovering Huel.

This is a hell of a lot of food to waste if it doesn’t go well. I can only digest U/U gluten free and don’t even know anyone else who’s willing to try it - all my friends prefer chocolate or banana. As other have quoted on here there are a huge number of articles about kombucha and IBS - and I remember reading an article on the website about how one of the users found that it helps with their condition, which is one of the main things that convinced me to try Huel, I imagine a lot of people will feel the same.

I really really hope this isn’t just additional stuff to try and justify the cost increase. I think most people will be happy to just pay for it, we all know about inflation and brexit. The texture change will be a plus, but nutritional changes I see as a minus here in the number of people who will be able to digest this well. Probiotics are also quite individual. The type I have works for me but I have tried a few different ones and they don’t all work for everyone. I think trying to do a “one size fits all” for gut health is a huge business risk - it would be like getting everyone to use the same type of shampoo or moisturisers knowing they have different hair/skin types.

I thought it was an excellent idea to keep one version of 2.3 - so people could choose (but it turns out they aren’t doing this after all).
This latest update seems quite contraversial.

For me, the selling point of Huel was it’s simplicity: oats, rice, pea protein, flaxseed, and micronutrients. A simple, suits all, hypoallergenic complete food.

I also like the direction Huel is going in: moving towards an ‘all natural’ product.

I wonder if they should also have a hypoallergenic version, keeping it as simple as possible. Unflavoured unsweetened would be the obvious choice. V2.3 UU would already be perfect if it was produced in a factory without the contamination risk of mustard.

Hi @ChristinaT. Personnaly I´m not having IBS related issues. It was just a link to enforce @moldygrapes concerns and I found that link from one of the pionners in IBS study and testing: https://ibspatient.podbean.com/e/episode-4-dr-mark-pimentel-is-a-spoke-to-me-at-ddw/ .The information was provided to enrich the topic. I like Huel and I hoped they keep unchanged the U&U. Unfortunately the U&U will have Kombucha ( I don´t drink any caffeine or theine drinks), Tapioca, a High/medium GI/GL carbohydrate ( will probably increase Huel GI level). Regarding Kelp has some health benefits and also a positive outcome for the environment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjGFRZSiKYc .

A purist edition would be great. Maybe the glutenfree version only, if more than that seems like too many products to keep on the market.

What I’m still unclear about is whether the price rise affects all types and flavours of Huel powder. Rereading Julian’s original post suggests all Huel powder becomes more expensive, but lower down someone posted that Original 2.3 would remain, and stay at the old price. If that’s so, why shouldn’t all remaining stocks of 2.3 remain the old price? Thanks for any info.

From what I can tell all v2.3 stock will be available on the outlet at its current price for a limited time once v3.0 releases. Presumably until the old stocks are used up. Hopefully someone from the team can clarify, though?

You’ll notice the title regular under my name that basically makes me staff and I can confirm v2.3 will be free

(berry only, minimum 50 bag order, product may not free)

Yes agreed, although if improvements can be made to taste, texture etc. then that’s fine by me (there have after all been several revisions, what we have now is pretty good - there have been some not so good steps - fluoride and too much salt.

Personally I don’t mind the addition of tapioca if it helps with texture, I like the fact it is vegan, and I would prefer it without kombucha or kelp, but arsehole cherries or whatever they are called is fine.

What are you talking about… JobCentre is hi-viz green

The free is inside your heart, ya devil.

It looks more like a job centre than an actual job centre.

Nah. I don’t buy the whole natural is better thing. Seems very anti-science to me (conceptually I mean, not so much Huel’s use of ingredients)

Vaccines work
GMO’s are safe
Everything is a chemical
Yada yada

Feels like they’re getting ready to add “all natural” to the list of selling points, alongside GMO free. Then when we question it they’ll say “we’re not saying all natural is better, but Huel just happens to be all natural and some people like to be informed about such things”.
