Salted Caramel is super!

Finished off my taster pack with the Strawberry flavour. It was alright. It’s strawberry, I like it but I don’t like it enough to buy a full bag.

Then I cracked open my bag of Gingerbread. I liked this, but I think I went overboard with it and made it too sweet. I used a heaped teaspoon as per the instructions but it was mega-heaped so probably too much.

I tried the old boosts ages ago but I’ve forgotten them all, so I can’t pick ten.

Salted caramel
Mint chocolate
Gingerbread
Pumpkin spice

Maaaaybe Apple cinnamon and Strawberry.

I just have Choc Cherry left to try.

Tried salted caramel in UU yesterday and was unable to finish it. Way to salty for me.

Tried berry FB with banana premix today. The usual 1tsp/3g booster + 75g Huel + 650ml water. It was really nice! With the natural flavour of the banana premix it was very very similar to the classic banana and berry smoothie.

The berry booster is definitely distinct from the berry premix - this booster is quite raspberry forward which is nice.

For what it’s worth I used to occasionally have berry premix + (old) banana FB and this tastes totally different from that.The berry FB + banana premix is much more of a natural fruit smoothie taste than the other (probably because the old banana booster was that nice artificial candy banana flavour and berry premix is…well, whatever berry premix is).

Fruit flavours aren’t really my thing in the morning so I probably wouldn’t buy a whole bag but its definitely a nice addition to the booster range for people who want that! Nice job, Huel!

Totally agree. I’d assumed it would be like peanut butter powder, but nope, not at all.

Mint Choc was quite nice - not sure I like it enough for a full bag.

Strawberry today - it’s nice enough, but not my thing to have on a regular basis. I’ll try my other sample in banana premix to see if it’s better.

Got my chocolate cherry boost, going to be trying it out tomorrow with chocolate premix. I’m looking forward to try apple cinnamon as well after seeing all the good reviews here. The sample sachets smell so strong, my cupboard smells very sweet right now and I haven’t even opened them.

I went to pumpkin spice this morning (with UU) and it left me a bit confused. The taste reminded me of a stuffing for chicken, if anything. I didn’t know what to do with it and killed it with old banana fb. :flushed: Then the taste made some sense.
How are these spices usually used for cooking/baking? Sweet or sour?

And in “things you always wondered about”: Is there a difference between pumpkins and squash in the english language? And do people really differentiate between summer and winter squash or is this just a US thing or an extreme low carbers thing?

Salty caramel and peanut butter won’t ever make it to my cart for an order, this is for sure.
Still some more to test…

I am really struggling to get a good strength of flavour and sweetness from the new flavour boosts.

Can someone please confirm my mixing is correct.

120g of UU + 700ml water + 4 x 3g flavour boosts = a not very sweet or flavourful meal.

The premixed chocolate, banana, berry and original by comparison are perfect flavour and sweetness. What am I doing wrong? Do I just need to add massive amount more of the new flavour boosts to get similar strength of flavour?

They took 80% of the sweetener out of the new flavour boosts so if you want to use them in UU you kinda need to add some sweetness (stevia or honey or sugar or coconut nectar for example) to bring out the flavour.

I preferred the old formula which worked perfectly with UU

@Peas: I can confirm that even to me, who found the old fb with UU or the premixes too sweet, the new fb have too little sweetness for UU. I am mixing them with old fb now, 1 tsp of new + 1/2 tsp of old for 80g of UU. Maybe for you 1:1 or even more of the old ones would be better, because you like them sweeter. Or you try them with original/vanilla.

:joy::joy: you must use different spices to stuff a chicken in the US. Here in the UK the traditional stuffing is Sage & Onion.
Now that would make an interesting Huel flavour!

I’d say these spices are used for savoury dishes - curry or chai etc.

For some strange reason, pumpkin isn’t that popular for eating in the UK and you generally only see it in the shops at Halloween to make lanterns. Butternut squash is the most popular squash that you can buy in most supermarkets.
Some veg shops sell a variety of seasonal gourds.
They are all squashes - but all have their own individual names.
My personal favourite is spaghetti squash :yum:

Those big orange pumpkins are for carving (jack o lanterns) I don’t think your suppose to eat them.
The most common squash I see in almost every shop is a butternut squash which is delicious

That’s what I was thinking of a sage and onion huel would ideal

You misunderstood, I don’t live in the US. :sweat_smile:

What makes it so confusing is that I don’t think ANY of the spices in pumpkin spice were in those chickens - I would rather guess parsley, maybe onion, sweet red pepper and garlic, cubes cut from old rolls soaked in milk, eggs probably… certainly no sage.

Here in Austria squashes/pumpkins don’t have much tradition except pumpkin seed oil (esp. in Styria). They are rather a vegetable of the last 3 decades here.
There is just 1 generic name for all of them in German, with subnames for the variety.

Pumpkin seeds are fairly popular as a healthy snack in the UK but it’s rare to find pumpkin oil (I’ve seen it only once, in a very expensive health food store in central London!)

I find it interesting that we grow so many fantastic squashes, but really the only one that most people have tried is the butternut.
Personally I eat them all. They are ridiculously cheap, really delicious, and very healthy and nutritious too. Very versatile to cook with as well - I love to roast them with other veg and herbs and olive oil. Or make them into soups or curries

Austria is missing out on a wonderful herb. I don’t know if it can grow there I don’t know the climate or land very well (Austria is mainly farm land right?) I think it was mentioned on another thread but herb flavours should definitely be introduced.

Yes, I know lots of people with kids who throw away the flesh and the seeds once they have carved the pumpkin. Disgraceful. There are so many tasty things to make from the flesh, and the seeds are great if boiled, then seasoned with a little salt, chilli and garlic powder, and roasted.
