To lose one stone

If you’re eating way below your daily calorie requirements, you’re probably low on everything. You can’t really avoid it, unless you take a supplement. When I was losing weight I took a multivitamin tablet every 2-3 days.

Thanks David. But it says really quite low for iron. Yet online it suggests Huel is high in iron. Is my app wrong? I have it down as Huel 1.1. Maybe the old one was low on iron?

Don’t forget the nutritional information is all user submitted, so someone could have entered the figures incorrectly. Are you scanning the barcode? That should give you the most up to date info. It’s better than searching for the food name, which always returns dozens of results going back years.

No I only have the free version so can’t scan I don’t think.

So generally speaking is Huel a good source of iron? Or should I take supplements?

I still love Huel, but Huel doesn’t love me :frowning: - I am down to 13 stones, but have not had Huel in (I think) six weeks? No probiotics of any kind and feeling fit.

You can scan. I’ve never paid for MFP.

Huel is a good source of iron. If MFP is telling you Huel is low in iron, it is wrong. If MFP is telling you your diet is low in iron, it might be right, depending on what else you’re eating and if the data in MFP is accurate.

edit: I just had a look in the MFP app (I haven’t used it in a while) and when you add a food, there’s now a new button “scan meal” which requires a subscription. But right next to it is the “scan barcode” button that you should use, and which is free.

“Scan meal” might not even be in your version of the app. It’s a new feature and looks pretty fancy, but not as good as using the barcode for things like Huel.

I wonder what the app would suggest if you tried to scan some Huel, given that it’s just beige gloop. Porridge maybe? Someone with a premium subscription should test it!

About 80-90% of the iron intake is not absorbed in the guts. But absorption is increased by vitamin C quite significantly. So whether you get enough iron also depends on your other nutritional choices.

Hi guys. It’s still going pretty well. But now my app is saying too much potassium. Lots more. Largely due to the hot Huel lunch I have. I’ve scanned it in too. Any ideas why?

A high amount of potassium is not really bad, unlike too much sodium. I would not worry too much about it.

@mbs is right, it’s nothing to worry about. Some of the potassium comes from the main ingredients and the rest from the vitamin and mineral blend.

Off topic a tad but does anyone feel like the vanilla flavouring looks and tastes a bit different?

Weight loss wise have now done just over 3 stone (by half a lb) in 3 months exactly to the day. Same regime as above. Walking 20,000
Steps a day. 30,000 on weekends or holiday days. Am still 19.5 stone though. But this is by far the best run on weight loss I’ve ever had. Longest, fastest… And still feel good thanks to Huel.

Hi guys. Been a while for me posting. It’s still going well though. Haven’t changed my routine much abs still averaging 20,000 steps a day. Jogging some though.

Do 1,500 calories in walking / jogging a day. Have lost over 3 abs a half stone but it’s slowing to around 2lbs or 2.5 a week.

My question is should I be on Huel Black? Or is that for people who are smaller / more active or weight lifter types? I’m still 18 stone 9.

Think I have the Korma H&S too often too.

I’m still very heavy. So it’s about starting points etc. I feel I’ve found stuff which works for me. But that takes some time. And you build up from a low target but making a routine. Then targets raise as you go along (even though you say they won’t). Am sure you will do great. I’m far from the sort of person you’d have backed on this front.

Hit just over 4 stone in under 5 months today. 2 more to go I make it. As am still just under 18 stone 5
